Another Reason for a Manual

Looking over my order paperwork and noticed that an automatic cost $1,185 more, but that ain't all. If you buy an automatic the gas guzzler tax goes from $1,300 to $2,300. So an automatic really will cost you $2,485 more than a 6 speed manual. Ouch

40,000.00 for a new camaro.
2.485.00 more for the auto
The look on the manual owners face
after he loses...Priceless.

Since I left my clutch knee in Vietnam, I was stoked when I saw the ZL 1 had a 6 spd auto option.

I would have a 2013 GT 500, also if Ford figured a way to offer it.

Ford should offer the GT500 in a Auto trans.

Didn't mean to offend anyone, thank you for your bravery and the sacrifice you gave for your country. I'm a vet too. Glad GM made your ZL1 dream possible. Proud supporter of our armed forces. Thanks to all our brave young men and women.

Is this breaking news or just another thread to start the manual vs. auto debate again?

I'm pretty sure the pricing for the ZL1 has been around for quite awhile.

The GT500 will not have an auto transmission. They would lose more consumers than they would gain.

Not with an SS, even with me, a girl, behind the wheel. What's your top speed so far in the SS? 153 in my SS. Hope to easily get into the 160's with my new ZL1 once she all broken-in. Can't wait!

ps. $2,485 is on a ZL1 and it's not 40's more like 60ish. I got a Need for Speed! Fun Fun Fun!

Gas Guzzlier

Is the difference in the tax due to the mileage ratings?

+1 Have an auto and knew about the price diff. well before
the purchase. Not against the manual and have driven
several, but I just get tired of shifting all the time especially
in city traffic, plus my wife loves it also and wants no part of
a manual. If not for the auto option I would not have one.
Wifey would not want one and she must be kept happy
It's not always about money

auto ...no need to replace clutch over and over.....and the possibility of changing the torque converter for great consistent launches....unfortunate the ss made me take a l99 to have the auto, the zl1 will cure that.

I'd like to see the person who won't purchase a manual car just because the car is also available in auto.

Salesman: Here we have a 550 horse power V8 beast in a manual transmission.
Buyer: Awesome. I'll take it.
Salesman: Good choice. I sold an automatic this morning.
Buyer: OH, it comes in auto too.
Salesman: Yes, in auto or manual.
Buyer: In that case, nevermind, I'll pass on the car.

lol
