perhaps, but 1969 was the first year they were issued, might have been on model year 1970 cars which would have come out in Sept '69, but 1969 was the first year for blue/yellow.

yeah that makes sense if you had a 1969 early build it was probably sold/licensed/registered in late 1968 or early 1969..

The blue/yellow came out in 1969 but there is no indication as to when, I suspect it was late 1969 for the 1970 model year cars..

How long could it honestly take before we reach 7,500 per plate? I didn't think it'd take more than a couple months at most.

as I read it, they will not be issued until January 2015 if 7,500 pre-orders are made.

it doesn't say they will be issued once 7,500 are made, it says they will be issued starting January 2015 IF 7,500 are made.

Q15: Will the DMV wait until January 1, 2015 to implement the program even if the minimum is reached before that date?
A: No. Once the required minimum is reached, implementation of the program will go into development.

You practically gave me a mini heart attack. I wanted my plane sometime this year heh.

oh that is good to know..

I have a form from the DMV I went there and asked, and it says Starting Jan 1, 2015 if all 7,500 pre-orders are filled.

I just figured I am going to have to sit on it for 2 years.

Honestly I don't see these being ready in less than a year anyways. Maybe it'll be ready for your next renewal.

They must have 7500 pre paid orders by Jan 2015 in order to issue these.

Can you put black and yellow legacy plates on a 2011 camaro?
The original black plates were last issued in 1969. I thought they could only be installed on something older than '69 but I could be wrong.

That's why these Legacy plates are now available. They are for new cars including your 2011 camaro.

If various sites and clubs saw this there would be no problem filling that order 10 times over.

Well you could use them on anything, but they are made for guys with a 50's car or a 60's car.

I have a 1957 New York plate on my belair, first I had to locate a pair then I called Albany to make sure that that number isn't being used then I had to mail them a photo of the two plates then they would register my car with those plates historical. With this new Cali. Program you are avoiding all that to have your ride retro.

Legacy plates are made for any CA car or truck that wants the vintage looking plates that were offered in the 50s, 60, or 70s. Read the frequently asked questions part in the CA DMV site. That's the whole point with these NEW plates.

I said that, but you would be the minority. The bulk of sales would go to guys that wanted plates for his classic 50's or 60's car that would've been on it when new.
