thinking of painting grill bowtie, looking for pro advice

is this a good idea or bad idea. I'm not a fan of the gold, I'd actually like to paint it back due to the lack of any aftermarket replacements right now.

think it would look good, bad, embarassing?

Ive been thinking of not painting the bowtie.. but tinting it!
Using window tint to agressively darken the gold and chrome.
Not sure if it can be done cleanly (getting the angles) but I'd like to look at the option.
This way, you're not trying to hide it.. but tone it down, and have it blend more with the darkness of the grill. Understand that what's done to the front would have to be done with the back.

Just a thought to which I have yet no results to go by.

I don't mind the back one, it's not surrounded by black.

Not to threadjack or anything, but I have a similar question. I was wondering if anyone knew how to color the bowtie, but keep that "texture" that the gold one has.

I was thinking about taking a small brush and applying a couple layers of modelling paint. Just not sure, don't want to make it look like crap.

I'd hope someone would offer the vinyl though so people didn't have to go painting their originals. There really shoulda been a Camaro, RS, or SS emblem in those spots.

I may be offering Vinyl's in Multiple colors, once I get my car and I see how it works. DO NOT PAINT IT, if you change your mind you are screwed. I am sure others will be offering vinyl. Give it a few months for the cars to come!

i painted the one on my '89 truck white to match the sheetmetal... love it and get lots of compliments on it (did the ones on the sides too)

i just cant decide if i want to do my SS's yellow or black... i think with the chrome surround black would look good.
may wait for vinyl now...

Not screwed, just out a few bucks when you have to order one from parts. I say paint it. We've had it done on a lot of trucks and it looks good.

Was going to get one of these for my wifes trailblazer.
Looks like he's in FL. Anybody down there want to contact him and get fitted for a decal?

My step dad has his painted black. I'm not sure the details of it because I'm not at home and my mom just sent me a pic today, but it looks nice in black especially on a black car.

I got ya man. Here's the only pic I have of the black bowtie and its from my mom's phone but better than nothing. My step dad just masked it all off today and painted it since he couldn't quite figure how to get it off. He still has to paint the back one though. Btw he's a member on the site but doesn't post too much, just hangs out, his username is fastdoc436.

Btw thats the first mod on the car too because we just got it on Saturday.
