I need a Snell 2005 or newer helmet

I'm not in this part of the forum much cause I don't race but I'm going to some test and tune nights at a local drag strip and need a Snell 2005 or newer helmet. Where's the best place to get one quick and on the cheap? Thanks!

I don't think a 2005 will cut it. IIRC, the snell rating is only good for 6 years. Mine expired this year and I had to buy a new one, even tho there was nothing wrong with it. Try your loca motorcycle shop. Most of those are DOT approved, but you may find a random Snell approved hiding in there somewhere. I bought mine online for a decent price.

Does your track rent them? I just ran at BIR (here in MN) the other day and they loaned them to you for free (deposit required).

No I don't think they do. I just ordered one locally that will be in tomorrow! It's a racequip like the link above. Same price but local pickup! I need it by Friday so this way I'll have it!

Thanks for all your help guys and wish me luck at the strip. This will be my first try at it!

Guess I'm kinda late here, but saferacer.com has some good deals. First hand experience with an exchange for a helmet that didn't fit properly was great.

So I got into Camaro5 today and on the front home page there's an advertising banner with Amazon.com showing the exact helmet I purchased! Co-incidence or does the banner change to tayler to us individually? The helmet is the open face race quip one for $159

The helmets are good for 10 years so a 2005 would still be good for a couple more years. My 2000 model expired in Dec 31 of 2011 so I am going to be getting a new one also. I will probably go with a 2010 so I don't have to get a new one for a long time.

edit: Test and tune tomorrow night so I'm all set! That is if the rain holds off!
