P0116 Engine temp code - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I started my car today after it sat for about 12 hours and got the code P0116, AC off due to high engine temp. Does anyone know what causes this? I only drove my car maybe 5 miles last night locally and in the rain so I didn't drive more than 40 mph. I haven't had my hood open in maybe a week so I haven't added anything new. The last thing I did was retune the engine without the transmission tune from Trifecta but that was a week to 10 days ago. I have a scanguage that I'm guessing I can use to clear the code, but has anyone had this come up before? Thanks for the info!

I see this after flashing a tune with HP Tuners but it clears upon 1st start.. I suspect it's communication loss between the ECM & BCM. Call Vince at TF or try to reflash it.

Well I checked my coolant level and it was a little low so I added some and drove it for about 10 minutes. The water temp was between 195 and 200 so it wasn't running hot but the fan was on the hole time since I guess it was getting information that the engine was hot. When I got home I cleared the code and the fan shut off immediately. I'll see how it goes on my way back to work. Hopefully it stays off.
