maggie w/3.6 pulley ported heads,cai,stage 2 cam,catch can,american racing long tubes, corsa exhaust, dual fuel pump, and some suspension upgrades

Wow! I will say you're better off with what you have but if you added some of those mods to a ZL1 you would have a real street brawler.......just sayin!

I love my HEAVELY moded 2SS/RS! I would NEVER trade her in for a ZL1! I think some people get caught up in the gotta have the newest thing syndrome. Just wait till the convertable ZL1 is out at all the dealerships....everyone will be wanting to trade in their coupe for THAT! My 10 year old says she wants my camaro when she is old enough to drive (She has Camaro on the brain like her dad) then and only then will i even CONSIDER unleashing the keys to my baby!

I'd you alaredy have a 2010, I'd wait until the 6th gen comes out. I doubt I'd give a $30k+ difference in trade just to have a car that you'd probably want to mod after being used to a modded and faster car.

How would the same mods make a ZL1 a "real" street brawler? He has the engine work done to the SS already. The only thing you would really GAIN with the trade would be a better balanced suspension and the prestige of having a shiny ZL1 badge on it. To me...that's not worth $30,000 plus the insurance difference. I would just put a better suspension on that SS! Then, it would be BETTER than a ZL1.

I doubt you would be happy with a ZL1 in stock form. Also, you'd have to either sell your car or part it out and then trade. They wouldn't give you what it's worth with the mods.

Best clean 'manheim' wholesale value on the OP's 2010 2SS/RS would be? Assuming say 10-12k miles/year.

I think you misunderstood what I said. The OP could remove all of his go-fast goodies and mount them on a ZL1 and have a much more formidable brawler. There is much more to a ZL1 than the stock 580hp that attracts everyone to it. He has at or around $55K in his car now so if he sets it back up as a stocker, sells it, gets a ZL at the current discount pricing of $55K, then mods it with what he has already, he will be at or around his same cost expenditures with the added bonus of having a better car.

Would upgrading the suspension, interior and exterior (at a cost of $5K+) be that viable?

I was thinking I could take off most of the mods, I have all the stock parts except headers, exhaust and clutch.

30K difference.... not really. Especially if you are going to mod an SS for better balanced suspension. FYI My insurance went up 10 dollars a month. I asked how much it would have been going from my 2010 SS to a 2013 SS.... 8 bucks. So 2 dollar difference 2013SS to 2013 ZL1. This is with State Farm @ $0 Deductible Comp and $250 Collision.

I went through this as my 2010 just rolled off warranty so I was going to supercharge it. Mod costs were higher than the difference between the cars and I got a new car with a full warranty (including a track warranty.) In addition I got awesome suspension that you cannot add to an SS. (You can make an SS handle with a ZL1 but not at the comfort that you get with the magnetic ride suspension.) Beefier driveline that would be a ton to add, a HUD (my 2010 did not have), backup camera, new touchscreen radio, new interior, custom exterior, larger rims/tires, dual mode exhaust, far better feeling steering feedback that adjusts based on driving mode and a car that on resale is worth more than a modded 2010 SS would be on trade. The only downside is that my ZL1 in a straight line is not as fast as my SS would have been. But if I want to give up my warranty it is very easy and relatively cheap to fix that (under 1K to get well over 600+HP.... my exhaust and CAI was more than that).

For me it was a no brainer but you having an already modded car so the decision is harder.

BTW My car was clean so I got top $$$ for my trade BUT the mods added nothing to the value. (Neither did the low miles... drive your cars people. )
