2011 SS vs. 99 Cobra - Results

So...some of you may remember this post.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=249198

Well the race finally went down.

It was a test & tune so they weren't letting us run together.

He managed to get 4 runs in and I managed to get 2 in before the rain.

His runs (remember he claimed he ran a low 13s)-
15.556
14.442
14.446
15.257

Mine-

and a 13.4 .

That 13.116 is the best run I've ever ran . Really hope I can break 13 soon.

Wow...those Cobra times are HORRIBLE. My ex-girlfriend's 99' Cobra (with CAI, catback and 4.11 gears) went 13.0xs @ 106 with HER driving it!

Your race should've been significantly closer than that LOL.

Good job.

It's nice to read about actual real world follow-ups to these vs. threads.

Get your 60 down and your 12's all day and yeah either that cobra is really tired or he needs more seat time because even stock they should run better then that.

having the Mustangs time slips would perhaps help us understand what was going on...

Saw your sig, trying to win a GoPro are you?

Watched a 99 Cobra run a 14.9 this past weekend. Technology has moved on without them I guess. I bet they never thought they'd be outrun by a heavier V6 version of thier car one day. 03-04 Cobras are still lethal though.

I want to say good kill to the OP, but that was kind of like beating up a guy in a wheelchair. -1.5 sec is hardly fair. But hey, Cobra owner asked for it.

Dude must have been blowing his launch to the nth degree.

That 13.1 with a fair 60' is impressive though.

As far as the Cobras though, I went 13.6 with gears/midpipe/cutback and a 1.85 60' with my 2v GT. Equal mods and a driver mod on Pre-03 Cobras should be bottom 13s, may e high 12s on the solid axle 96-98 models.

Sure that wasnt a V6 with cobra badges LOL.. My 03 v6 all 193 crank hp mustang ran 14.6 with 3.73 gears and exhaust on the stock 16's back in the day.

Looks like you could use some nitrous.... kidding. Good runs you'll have 12's in no time

Nice run for nearly stock! Is yours an L99 auto? Or the LS3 manual? Drop that 60' and you'll hit high 12s on a good track day.

Yeah a lot of people asked on that other post what went down. Didn't want to leave you all hanging

That was my best 60' time I've ever had...I hope I can break the 2.0 eventually lol.

I know he was getting some pretty bad launches. We were trying to get out quick bc it was pouring rain.

Looks like he was having boost problems. If he had a vacuum leak, his supercharger could go into a bypass situation. I had an aftermarket supercharger system on my h6 (eg33) Subaru SVX. Supercharges generally uses a vacuum controlled bypass valve to bypass the supercharger while the car is at idle. I had a plastic fitting on a boost gauge give out that cause a vacuum leak which caused my system to stay in bypass even while at wide open throttle.

^^This. It would seem the Cobra driver lacks some skills. That car should do low 13's easily. Mine ran 13.25 all day long.

Not sure why some people are surprised by the cobra time. Most articles I seen on them had a time of around 13.8, 13.9....

Nope, no supercharger. DOHC 4.6L, 319hp @ the crank, 255hp @ the wheels. Mid to low 13's consistently, cutting a .015 light with relative consistency. I was running street drag radials, otherwise stock.
