As far as i know it has not topped it yet. Im looking it up to find out though. ford claims 200 MPH for there 2013 shelby GT500 so I think since it has barely come out they are still testing it on the tracks and such.

I've yet to read an official press release stating the 2013 GT500 actually hit 200mph. I read an indepth test report that stated the car was incapable of hitting the golden mark due to the fact that, based on their data logging, it didn't make anymore power beyond the 190mph mark. Most tests are only hitting low 190's and the minimal variance is due to environmental conditions.

I'll look for the link but if anyone has something different post it up.................

140mph+ in any solid axel car is not an idea I am fond of.

Why? Seems to be just fine for me, you've never been over 140 in an older Camaro, or really any car with SRA for that matter?

The '15 test mules have been seen wearing independent rear suspension. Supposed to be included starting in MY 2015

My '99 Cobra had IRS, and it sucked. For straightline racing (my preference), solid axle all the way.

That Lingenfelter ZL1 with 720 rwhp is badass and still barely cracks 200 (as if that wasn't crazy fast). What I don't understand is how Sprint Cup cars can cruise along at 210 for hours at a time.

in those cars there is like absolutely nothing in them except the parts to make the car go and a driver seat. everything is light and fiber glass except maybe the frame. and they all are super sleek for less wind resistance. basically they are built to race only! where as these muscle cars, such as ZL1, are passenger cars that look sexy on the road and are meant to be street legal, but we are trying to make them go super fast. just lookup the weight differences between racers and muscles.

Because he has IRS now, so every car with a SRA must be a danger to all of those on the road.

They're really not that super-much lighter (about 600 lbs), they carry about the same amount of gas and yet they're way faster and can sustain top speed for hours. Got this off a NASCAR site:
  • Weight: 3,400 pounds
  • Wheelbase: 110 inches
  • Fuel Capacity: 17.5 gallons (most tracks)
  • Fuel Type: 110 octane unleaded fuel
  • Top Speed: Rusty Wallace ran 228 in a test at Talladega in 2004 and believes 235 was possible.

GT500 apparently hit 202 MPH @ Nardo.

Motortrend his 196 MPH.

http://mustangsdaily.com/blog/2012/0...d-to-the-test/

That's far from low 190's. For a car that weighs as much as it does, and as much of a brick as it is, even 196 MPH is impressive.

I'll take my SRA over an IRS any day. All of my SRA cars have ZERO issue in triple digit speeds.

I thought the Lingenfelter ZL1 only made around 650 RWHP, not 720 RWHP?
