Here are a few more shots of the ZL1 water tray w/ my ACS TL1 insert and the OEM ZL1 water deflecor. No clearance issues (I did have the drain rub my engine cover I later found the cover was not snapped in so it was rubbing, once I snapped it in and re-painted the area where it rubbed no issues) with the V6 engine cover or K&N CAI, works great as you can see from the photo the OEM ZL1 water tray catches the water from the ZL1 drain off the hood and the water flows out the right and left side of the tray.

Thanks for this post! After washing my car yesterday and checking out the water flow I think I'll pick up the water drip tray.

I'm guessing the Vararam may be a complete no go with either the ZL1 or this TL1 insert. Looks like the water would drain right into it. Am I seeing it wrong?

I had a vararam on my v6 and if I remember right I think the flap around the vararam would be an issue... But if not, it may block the water. IDK -

I plan on going with CAI

01pewterz28 - Dang your dealer! I'm sure mine will be more than that. I think MSRP is $35... but still not bad.

How does the factory drain pan attach on your car? Are the factory attachments on it like a ZL1 has for the drain pan?

Contact Maureen@rodgers Chevrolet, it's cheaper there and no shipping or tax.

Good work ACS, another great product! hats off to all of you DIY guys here...very impressive work.
I love this mod, by I'm having difficulty with the reality of cutting my hood...and leaving those 4 big holes open for water infiltration. Where is the water going exactly?

Do you have an external cover option for rainy days? something you can put on to cover it night time when It's parked or even when driving under rain?
The internal is different then the OEM ZL1, is there a reason?

The drain for water dumps towards the top of the radiator, you can purchase the ZL1 drain tray and it will perform as the factory system does by collecting the water as it drains and dumping it to the sides of the radiator away from everything. I do not have the tray and we have had about 13" of rain since installing mine along with several snowfalls of up to 5" and have had no problems.

Thanks angrybird,
Its not a short turn problem but more of a long term one, with rust no?
Does the oem water tray fits in with the bolt patern supplied?

I don't think rusting would be a problem because when driving in rain it gets wet under there too. As far as I know there is no bolting of the ZL1 drain tray on ours, you can just place it in the correct position and it is held in place by existing hoses and wiring looms that exist. I am still not sure if I am going that route or make my own.

I've been looking at the thread for awhile. I'm ordering tomorrow. What a great looking mod and a great price.
All your guys' cars with the TL1 looks amazing! I'm just in debate what Olof to do mine. Im SIM. Satin black, or a few shades darker silver. Titanium? Can anyone photoshop these?

Really hard to color match in PhotoShop. Lighting plays a big role. I can tell you that I was looking at BMW silvers. They have some nice dark ones...

sent by my phone without my knowledge.

Allowing for overlap I would at a minimum get a 24 1/2" by 41 1/2"
