No I did not have them paint the vents I left the the black, and the deflector is the black color as well. I might have the deflector hydro dipped soon. It will send the water towards the passenger side, if you add the GM drain channel it will funnel it to the right and left side of the radiator.

The temperature got up to 70 today so I thought i would finish my insert installation up by putting on the adheasive, and then painting under the hood. I also added a couple emblems to the water deflector.

The ZL1s don't have the hood insulation right? Any point in keeping them now that there's the hood insert to help with the heat?

The insulation is more for sound absorption than heat. I like the look better than bare metal too.

Honestly the only reason to keep it is the underside of the stock hood is ugly as sin.

I am thinking of making a new insulator out of aluminum and painting it glossy black to make the underside look better.

Hmm ACS makes a trunk liner I wonder if they could make an under hood liner with built in lights that you could either use on a stock hood or cut it out to use with their TL1 insert or T3 vents?

Great idea I would buy one we need something smooth that looks nice to clean up the underside.

Of course it would need to be heat resistant....

Funny you say this, but its something I started to work on.... There will be a few more product releases but the hood liner is not too far.

FYI, our composite material has been tested to resis heat and the elements, not many vendors can claim to meet both GM and Ford's 7 yr Durability standard. We have been qualified for both :-) We use the same formula for our complete line...
