So a half a hole farther forward on the front holes will help with any gap that may exist? Good to know.

This is one of the reasons I waited to buy thing thing. All the words of wisdom from people that have done it already.

I ran to autoparts store the other day for some pin-striping for my fascia....

When I got back I had some scissors for cutting the vinyl and I set them down in the insert so they wouldn't slide off the hood...

when I went to grab them to cut the vinyl, I was surprised at how hot they were.

So much heat leaves through this insert!

ok this inset looks awesome!!!Two questions, I have yet to see if those guys with catch cans have any clearance issue with the drain area....for most v-6 cars with catch cans the area of install is passenger side right in the area where the insert looks to rest inside the engine bay....Probably not an issue but wanted to bring it to light....question two,,would like to see if possible pictures of car with factory stripes and insert....

It's no where near it. Let me take a pic and I will post it for you.

Here ya go, my catch can sits below the air intake resonator tube so if it hit anything it would hit that first, it clears it with no problems. The water drain deflector is just about two inches at the deepest point which is the front corners of the drain.

Does water run all over anything? Should I be concerned about that at all or does it fall between the motor and radiator?

Get the ZL1 water drip tray that sits above the radiator. Part# #22828415. I'm not sure if ACS deflector works well with it-I'm assuming it would. I got the ACS ZL1-style deflector.

It falls between the radiator and motor, due to the shape most of the water will actually fall on either side of the fans. Mine has been on since late December and I haven't noticed any ill effects from it. My car sits outside 24/7 and has been through several snows and lots if heavy rainstorms. You can get the ZL1 water deflector that sits on top of the radiator and diverts the water off the sides of the radiator but without the tabs it fits into to hold it you are just using the AC and radiator hose to hold it in place.
It's up to you but I don't think there would be any issues either way.

Do you have any pictures of your ZL1 water drip tray, especially from the passenger side? I believe for 2012+ the ZL1 tray pretty much snaps in with the new radiator shroud design. But I had to squeeze some wiring underneath the drip tray to make it fit.

I don't have one sorry. I was just going by pictures others have posted about their ZL1 drain tray. Mine is a 2012 and there are no places for the tabs on my car.

I liked the looks of the hex vents but I wasn't thrilled with the water trays then I saw the TL1 insert and I was hooked.

Here is a video I made a little while ago showing the underhood view of the water draining. I hope it is good enough for you to see that the majority of the water is going to the sides of the radiator with some falling on top of it. Adding a Zl1 drain tray may help some in the water drain off but I don't know how much.

ZL1 water tray bolts on to my 2012 V6. I guess I'm special. The gray wires on the left side need to be wedged under the tray though-unless someone has a better idea on where to place them.
