Looks like there is more evidence that the 1LE is delivering what it promised. Exciting times. GM did great on this car.

Not really. You could say Evan Smith is faster around VIR in a 1LE than someguy from Car & Driver in an R8.

The chart below can provide an idea of how the drivers from Car & Driver will likely perform. The 1LE is ~9lbs/HP. On the chart, based on average performance that mean a 3:05+ lap time.

If Car & Driver were to somehow replicate a time of 2:58, that would put the 1LE in GTR, Gallardo, Viper ACR levels of over achievement. Not impossible but highly improbable.

Power to weight is a very poor way to measure track times especially in street cars.

I agree drivers play a big role and so does the track conditions the day the cars run but there are two R8s on that list and the Boss 302 LS is in the middle of both. If the 1LE is as close to the 302 LS as it appears to be then I expect car and driver to run a 3:00-3:03 range.

Yes, especially when you look at the performace difference between the SS vs 1LE for 0-60, 1/4 mile, and the rod course. There aer so many more variable, lightening up unsprung weight and rotational mass and gearing can do alot to make up the difference. You also have some cars that make more power under the curve but make less peak power. Some people will never realize this, they just want to break that 500hp mark, torque curve be damed!

Yes, there is two track versions towards the back straight entrance. The 1le media events took place on shorter track. U can see it on the video.

Geesh, the 1LE is a beast on the road course. Anxious to see what the 3:91 gears and closer ratioed gear box will do to help the 1/4 mile time, but that really doesn't matter much for the 1LE's intended purpose. Expcially when it's $5,940 cheaper than the 302 in the magazine's test. Great job, GM!

Motortrend ran 4.3 0-60 and 12.7 1/4 mile or the 1LE.

You know that there will be no more boss mustangs made after this year right? The 1LE did a fantastic job of catching up to a Boss mustang when Ford is no longer interested. When Spring comes along and everyone gets their 1LE's out of the garage, the hype for the new generation mustang will be growing strong and chevy will need to catch up once again. At least our cars always look better.
