Launching Auto v6 Camaro

What is the BEST RPM to launch my Automatic 2011 V6 Camaro from? Also, should I have stability control and Traction Control off or what?

TC and SC should be turned off. Launch ~ 2k RPM. Do not do this on public roads.

As stated above, all stability and traction control off.switch to sport mode, use shifters, hold brake while rev to 2k or greater rpm, release brake and enjoy the ride.

Or you could leave everything on, rev at 1500. I've produced a 2.088 60 ft that way.

Whack the throttle when the light turns green.

What else do you need?

I think the best time was when the car was launched between 1000-1200 rpm

There is a member here who produced consistent 2.0 or 2.1 60 foots with his V6 A6 on stock 20" tires by doing the following:

-During staging, turn off TC
-Spin the tires a bit at least enough to clean them off, but putting a little heat in the Pirelli's is even better
- TC back on
-Hold brake, rpms at around 1,000 to 1,200 rpm
-When you launch, release the brake and simutaneously work into the throttle aggressively but maybe not punching it.

Of course.....there are some who say they feel they do better with TC off, launching at a low rpm and rolling into the throttle so very little wheel spin is produced.

Now go practice.....safely!

Its a V6 auto, so it's sadly only trying to spin one tire. No performance limited slip differential.

With that fact in mind, it will spin easy. At the dragstrip traction is better so you can launch higher.

This.

As for the OP's question, I don't know. I've been wondering this myself since I have a V6 auto. I want to go out and experiment for myself but I always worry I'm going to get pulled over. Cops around here actively hunt for stuff like that.

Unless you have drag slicks on, you really shouldn't take TC off. Concrete walls at the dragstrip (or trees and curbs if you insist on doing this on the road) are very unforgiving!

I can't imagine that messing with the shifters would help you any, but I don't drive an auto so.....

Don't turn of stabilitrack!!!
if your drag racing, don't turn off TC either.
if your auto crossing, just turn off TC...
trust me its scary racing with them both off. specially in sport mode.
if your in manuel, for autocross (idk why you'd that) but stay in 2nd.

best results :thumb up: 2nd will allow you to punch it on straights and will slow you down for turns. but drive and sport do that anyways. so....

Funny, I learned to drive in the late '60s. 383 Chargers, 440 Plymouths and others. Never thought of or heard of tc or sc back then. Never thought of it as scary. Just fun

Why so scary? Think of it this way regarding the 1/4. Your going in a straight line on a sticky track that was desgined to do exactly what your doing. The V6 in a stock form will only hit about 94MPH. I'd rather spend 14.5 seconds going 0-94 in a controlled place than cruise along at 75 on a public hwy with every other moron. Now that's scary.

But, i would advise to keep them on if you are a newbie until you get the feel of it and feel comfortable.
