so no 500+hp camaro off the bat???
but atleast 430 from the ls3 right???
well thats ok becasue the gt500 mustang ,even having a s/c, isnt that quick. i wouldnt dout it if the ls3 camaro would hang with the gt500.
in car and driver,i believe, the regular c6 vette,ls2, smoked the gt500 in every aspect of competition.

with a s/c???? i dont think so. the ls3 already has 430 hp. there is no way the s/c version will ony push out 40 hp. thats rediculous. if the camaro has the s/c 6.2 it will probably be the same as the cts v. theres no need for having 3 s/c version of 1 motor.

Actually its very smart from a manufacturing stand point, that and you can cover many types of vehicles and markets with one engine.

Also remember the tune itself can make or restrict HP to a very large degree.

I don't see a repost - but, in any event: you can delete your own posts, just go to 'edit', and instead of clicking 'save', go two more buttons over to 'delete'. Then hit 'delete' on the new section that pops up

After you do that, I'll scrap this post, too.

i understand about using the same motor in multiple cars, i just dont think that its necessary to have 3 versions of s/c motors. i think the zr1 motor and the cts v motor are plenty. just throw one of thse in the camaro and im in.

I think that transmission would be right at home in the new Camaro!
its not a totally new tranny, and as far as the paddle shift goes, all that is is a different way of shifting the tranny. all the paddles do is send a signal to an actuator that moves the shifter from gear to gear.
the paddle shift would be an awesome option to the camaro, tho gm would have to watch their ass on the powertrain warranty from people who dont know how to downshift, blowin their trans. lol

it is a smart idea, cus then they can save money by only making one block instead of 3 different ones. remember that the vortech engines were basically the same ones that went into the f-bodies, minus the fact they were made of iron instead of aluminum and the intake/exhaust was diff.

in addition to a tune, the intake/exhaust/emissions can drastically reduce hp.

as far as our camaro goes, LS3 base v-8 motor. s/c ls3 (ls8, prolly not ls9) for the top dog z28 ss. thats what im puttin my money on. tho id love to see a ZL-1 427ci 2010 camaro.

Ah, but GM has an "idiot algorithm" built in. The auto WILL NOT downshift, if the revs are too high to 'land' safely.
