Disappointing ET with new LTs and DRs.

Well I went to the track tonight for the first time with my new Stainless Works LTs, Nitto NT05s and JRE tune. Ran a slow 13.21@108. Was expecting more. Have seen other cars with similar mods and street tires running 12.5..Car was really bogging out of the hole. Hooking well but not going. DA was about 1600, pretty humid about 75%. Dunno. Will have to call uncle Ted tomorrow and see if my expectations were out of line.

Something is off. I ran 12.5 with LT & Exhaust, ADM CAI and tune in really hot and humid weather.

Did you forget to take the traction control and stability off? Your 60ft is killing you for sure.

Running 315 on stock rims isnt the best idea but not sure if thats what hurt you.

-you still have the stock washer tank? try without -much more air access.

-assume you didn't deep stage the tree.
-your RT- i assume you weren't spinning at the start, just light reaction delay.

assume other runs were similar.

your rear tires - not DR -reg NT05. the size is excessively wide for a stock rim-not recommended-and lowering the pressure makes the traction worse due to improper sizing. Extra weight too. More rolling restance at lower psi .You should run them as close to normal, until you start to have too much slip. no water box. spin to clean and minor heat (on good track).

I'm actually out of town w/o access to 99% of my slips. My initial thoughts at 1600da no wind, no heat soak/temps <+192:
your 60ft should be 1.9 or better
your 1/4 should be easily under 13.0

your slip looks consistent, although a little slower et/mph than I'd expect even for that 60ft = more weight/hotter/higher rolling resistance than my typical at that 60ft when with less mods and stock wheels.

I'd recommend working on your 60 (i've been 1.8s on stock wheels and CAI), then worry about the rest later.

good luck

Tim
I've had the car a while now and have done the fuse pull a while ago. Did not really notice any difference. Never had anything but 93.

I have never weighted the car and probably wont. It had about 3/4 tank of gas.

Did a bit of research on the tire and that was the recommended PSI for best traction. 20-25. I left it 24-25 PSI. Really doubt it would have that great of an effect.

Do still have the factory washer bottle will look into that.

Not really anything to work with to improve 60 ft. Tried launching several different ways and none worked. You see the best one above. Not my first rodeo either. Have had numerous toys. My 00 Firehawk ran 12.7. 69 Firebird that ran 11s back in the day.

Don't think the car is running like it should be.

Sounds like your tune is pulling timing right off the hit at low rpms! This happens to me!!!! You know what fixed it, running a few gals of 100 octane makes my car a different animal on the low side of the power curve! I cant tell you I have a laptop hooked up for my runs and seeing this happen, but I have done it twice with the same out come! Run without the racing gas and my car is lacking low speed power under heavy load, put a 100 in her and its like I picked up 50tq at low rpms! My runs with the racing gas end up with better 60s and more 1/8th mile speed, but does nothing for top end. SO what seems to be happening is my timing is being pulled because of crappy gas and run conditions.

Give it a shot... Your car should be mid 12s all day man!

Can be a few things, but the first thing to do is fix that 60 ft time. I've gone 1.86 with the same parts I think you have (mine are in sig).

Does your tuner have your fans coming on sooner? Makes a difference.

Try to get your incrementals more like mine:

The bad time is in your 60 foot time. If the car bogs out of the hole you can gernerally add a solid half second to your time slip at least. Might be time to add higher stall torque converter being at auto car.

Would love a converter and gears, however I believe the car should be running better than it is with the existing stuff. Other stuff will come in due time.

Thanks. I never wanted to see a 13 sec time slip again either, hence the mods I made and I didn't go til I got some decent tires. I did leave my engine cover on but it was a cool night and I just don't think the heat was a factor. Opened up the hood and waited a good 30 min between runs. I ran a car for several years bracket racing years ago, so I wouldn't say I'm a Noob at this but every car is different. Sent Ted at JRE a message to get his thoughts on the issue.

Does the washer fluid tank come out easily? I have read that the scoop and relocation kit is a decent mod.

You really have to work two aspects of your times, the 60 ft and then everything else.

I've raced on a great track and also a marginal one now with my Nittos. At Norwalk I added air the track was so good. Back home at GLD I took them down again. If you do a good burnout and can't hook < 25 psi, maybe your local track prep sucks bad. My local track GLD does not prep on weeknights, so it's been my experience that the track gradually goes away unless we have a lot of cars running down it to keep heat in it. Plus the radial guys create bald spots on the starting line.

I always look at slips to compare where I could be by the 330, 1/8, etc. I've not cracked 90mph at the 1/8th but I'd love to. It's gonna take like some 500 DA air or something for me to do it at this point. Last time out I ran 12.51 - 12.60, but consistently at 110-111 so my tune is pretty good. I have changed stuff in my trans tune twice since the first tune trying some stuff, some of which worked, and some of which that didn't.

Appears the time lost is in your Launching / 60'.
After more practice and getting my 60' down I increased my ETA by 0.4

The car is hooking very well and bogging down the motor...Once the car gets rolling it seems to be running fine.

I don't think any amount of practice will eliminate the bog. I tried off idle stabbing the throttle, was worse. Holding the throttle and RPM up about 1000-1100 RPM up on the converter yielded the best results.

There's your problem, your bogging it. Why not try launching at a higher rpm to prevent that?
