Cannot get this awkward looking spot off

Okay so this awkward looking spot has been on the hood of my car since I have had it for about a year now. I have clayed and waxed with the Adam's lineup of stuff and still have not been successful at getting this off. It is not raised and you cannot feel it to touch. Not sure if maybe it might be in the paint itself? Any suggestions?

It could be etched into the paint from a bird bomb or other contaminate. If you don't have a da or other machine you may want to try some Meguiars Scratch-X by hand and follow the directions on the back. Another old trick would be taking a little white vinegar on a microfiber towel and rubbing the spot. What actually caused the spot would dictate what was needed to remove it. Not knowing the cause will require a little trial and error as they say. If another member is located in your area with a da , I would try and compound it out. A da or rotary in the hands of the right person can do quite a bit of defect removal. Just remember that not every blemish found on a painted surface is repairable .

Polish it out. Looks like a water etching.

I don't even...

OP, you can certainly try to clay bar the area and see if that will get that etching out.

Thats not good LOL.

If you tried the clay and wax, youre next step is to try a polish, that should get it out (no pun intended)

Hello!

From the picture, that looks like a bird bomb etching. Have you tried polishing that spot at all after Clay? If the spot is superficial enough, the clay will remove it. Too deep, you will need to perhaps use something like Swirl and Haze Remover Car Polish and an Orange Hex Grip Hand Car Polish Applicator, in this case, because it's isolated, by hand. Follow that up with Revive Hand Car Polish and a Blue Hex Grip Hand Car Polish Applicator to finish cleaning and shining up the paint, then protect it with Wax. If it won't come out by hand, step up to a machine.

The first time I saw it I was wondering if someone did it on purpose? It's kindof like those people who find the virgin mary on their toast....except I found a _____ on my hood maybe it was meant to be there!

I did dawn wash, clay and rewash with Adam's carwash then followed up with my porter cable polisher last night. Did these steps on the polisher: Severe Swirl Remover followed by Swirl and Haze Remover, Fine Machine Polish paying special attention to this spot but no luck. I may try the white vinegar tonight and see what happens.

I don't think a penis came on there by itself lol!

Try some meguiars ultimate compound and ultimate polish (sold in walmart) if you are doing it by hand.

Try just a medium polish if doing by a machine.

If you can't catch your fingernail in it, there is hope to get rid of it!

Edit: Just read your above post. If adams isn't working, try getting the megs ultimate compound and machine it with the PC. Remember to use slow arm speed and a 1.5 ft square area. 6 to 8 passes makes 1 section pass... I don't think it would need more than that.

Mudchick_alicia, I had some water etching on my car that took a couple of "tries" with the Adams products to get off. After the first session, they faded some; and then I spent some extra time on the second which got rid of them. So I think that if you try the PC and the three products again -- the Severe Swirl Remover, then the Swirl and Haze Remover, followed by the Fine Machine Polish, it will probably eventually come out.
