So what was your best time for the night? Mine was 11.7 on that crappy skating rink!

This was my best run of the night once I figured out how to launch oh so softly and make it up once hitting 3rd gear!

That mustang was supercharged by the way and usually runs 11s. Tonight he couldn't get out of the 12s on this craptastic track!

In car of the same run:

Looked like the track was very slick. That will kill the 60 foot and the ET. Where were you running at and what was the temp?

Once you get a little more practice, you will be in the high 9's, low 10's

How about posting videos of our runs together, cause my kids cellphone video sucks big time

Alright. Here's the 1st two runs of the night were we ran together.

1st Run from bleachers

1st run in car - Just shredding the drag radials in 1st and 2nd...

2nd run from bleachers

2nd run in car

And the bonus video for reference on how crappy the track prep was is what should easily be an 8 second fox body mustang

I hear ya and I talked to quite a few people before making my selection on Nitto NT05R drag radials. One car I know is a 800+RWHP turbo corvette running these same tires. So two questions for you with your 700rwhp experience because I'll be honest, this is my first car at this power level and I'm just figuring it all out. 1) What tires do you have the best luck with? and 2) How negatively are your 700RWHP cars affected by poor track prep?

I ask the second question because absolutely no one was running fast on that track last night. There were no happy people in the pits and many, like spymaster, simply loaded up after a couple passes and went home.

After the first half hour, they even shut off the timing score board in the right lane and you couldn't even tell how fast cars over there were going. Really poor track management.

Thanks for your feedback!

In my experience, the more power you are making, the more important track prep is. However, the bigger piece of the puzzle is the drivers ability to make adjustments to track conditions. Just because a certain launch rpm or tire pressure works well one night does not mean it will on a different night, even at the same track.

Good luck. With more seat time and experience with the car, your times will get better!
Thanks for the advice. I did improve my launches as the night went on but it just seems like I was having to leave so softly last night that I couldn't imagine how I would get into the 10s if I can't get that torque down early. Especially with as heavy as these cars are. I'll keep at it. Going to try a different track as well.
