Your "Duster"

So, if you use one, How old is you California Duster? I've had mine for about 5 years, and it looks it. However, it still works like the day I bought it. Great! I guess I should replace it at some point, but now it's like an old trusted friend.

Mine is over 12 years old (3 vehicles), just untie it a wash it... It may be a bit of a struggle getting the elastic off the handle if you're starting to get arthritis in your fingers like I am

The only one I had is the one I use in the far east where they were invented. That was over 35 years ago.

I thought they were infused with parafin wax and that washing it would remove it and make it less effective.

That seems to be the case. Wallyworld has them for $11 so replacement isn't a budget buster, or...

After washing (woolite), I put it back on the wand, spray it with any conveniently available quick wax and let it hang horizontal to air dry.
I occasionally spay it with quick wax (letting dry for at least a day) until the next wash.
I've done this for a couple of years now and it seems to work like new.

Mines about 6 yrs old. I've never washed it, never even thought about it. I guess because they say the dirtier it get the better it works.

Here's my Duster:

Back it up in front of the Camaro and then one rev gets rid of all the dust.
