heat exchanger upgrade soon!!

I ordered a heat exchanger upgrade from Cooler Logic in Sept but due to large demand from all of the vendors mine will be arriving Thursday. Looks like a fairly easy install and I will tackle it myself...just like all of my other mods. Here is a pic of the exact unit from the website: http://www.shop.coolerlogic.com/ZL1-...ade-ZL1HEX.htm

I hope it works as well as it looks as anything to keep down the IATs mean more hp!!

Are there fan(s) that go with it or re-used from the stock HE?

The Torq vendor uses two extra fans but this one just utilizes the factory fans that attach to the radiator. Above 35mph the fans really don't do that much anyways.

I see you do some drag racing and fans deffinitely help AIT2 in the staging lanes and while you aren't going 35mph or more.

All I'm saying is...fans ftw...lol.

I have considered the upgraded pump but at this point I don't want to shell out another $400. This may be necessary later. I am amazed, however, how much fluid the factory pump pushes when I take the lid off my reservoir. It looks like a fire hose because it is shooting so much fluid. It's surely not the trickle that I expecting to see and what all of the vendors make it out to be.

I got the same one. Install was straight forward. The only difficult part was the upper bolts holding the facia on. It's hard to contort your hand to get to them. The hex however will bolt right up to the existing brackets. Note: While you are underneath the car, disconnect the harness on the pass. side before pulling the front facia off.

I just wired in a switch to turn on the stock fans. And the pump.
My thinking is, you already have fans why buy more?

The IC pump is a Volt pump that's been boosted with greater power (more watts I think). It should flow pretty well to my understanding. I gotta' wonder where the point of deminishing returns is, regarding flow - doesn't there come a point when coolant flows fast enough that it's not getting cooled anymore without more air flow, or where restrictions in the rest of the system start choking flow? I remember one of those pumps, though, do seem to do a good job in managing heat.

Thanks for the tips. I also watched a you tube video concerning the removal of the front facia.

Surely, one of the tuner shops has data of before and after iat2's with a stock pump versus one of the many upgrade pumps available. It would be cool if one of them would chime in on this.

Just installed it today after the front facia removal etc. It fit perfectly and one must adjust the stock brackets slightly to get the bolt holes to line up. Also, make sure to use a worm gear style clamp on the inlet and outlet. The stock constant tension clamp wasn't tight enough and I had a slight trickle coming out of them. The factory clamps are glued to the hoses so cut them slightly shorter to use the new clamps. I didn't check IATs but it looks factory installed. Sorry, no pics.
