The 1LE Updated to...???

Well hear is the long story..

Bought nice new 2014 2ss 1le see pic

then got smashed....by Oldie Hawn doing her nails

...then I had no car and .....then the Ins totaled it b/c it had two bent frame rails and the whole front end was fubar. (relief)

My Ins. Co really treated me well and I had that option on my policy of similar make and model and new model year if your car gets totaled in the first 6mos.

So..... here comes the ZL1

What insurance? Did they cover the difference as well? Did they pay off the 1le or did you have gap?

Well, congratulations, I guess. You ended up with more car,no question about it. How about an in-depth review of ZL1 vs 1LE? Obvious topics are the power upgrade and perhaps more importantly, the 1LE suspension package vs the magno shocks in the ZL.

Teach us something.

Ok, Here is my thoughts so far on the two cars....Only had it for a a few days

Start with Power.... yup Lots more, no need to go any further Zl1 gets 5 out of 5 1LE gets 3.9 out of 5

Susp / Handling ... The 1LE is awesome where the Zl1 puts the MR in play is how you can configure and customize per roads. The Zl1 is bit heavier but you can't tell. The ability to go tour when I have the kiddies in the car is nice. I always would have liked to seen a 1le take on the Nurinburuing, I believe it would have impressed more. Zl1 gets 5 out of 5 1le gets 4.7 out of five, 1 LE is great handling but not adjustable.

Brakes: 6 piston makes for super stopping, the 4 kinda got soft on big stops.

Looks factor ZL1 gets less..WOW hey nice car from everyone. The 1le was a show stopper. zl1 gets 4.5 out of 5 1le gets 5 out 5

MPG zl1 gets 14-15-16 with fun driving 1le got 16-17 -18ish

the Zl1 is a bit louder in npp land

the biggest drawback the 1le has is 1st and 2nd gear. IMO there is not enough gear or power there and this is where the SS gets a better ET even with a 3.43 compared to the 3.91 the tranny is where the power got lost. It would have been nice if GM gave the 1le a lil more juice even 25hp would have been cool and could have been had is many ways...

I am daily driving the zl1 and also did the 1le. the 1le susp isn't harsh at all but its nice to goto kiddie mode esp when the weather gets bad. But the mpg was better by 2-3.

to conclude: very similar cars Magnetic Ride and Supercharger and brakes. Zl1 is close to 5 out of 5 wheras the 1le gets a 4.2

Congrats on the upgrade, too bad how you had to get it. But it worked out for you for the better.

Did you get the m6 or auto?

By the looks of picture of your 1LE, the damage looked bad, but not totalled. I wouldnt have thought it was that bad. I have ZL1 envy most days.

Congrats on the upgrade. Only thing I don't like on the ZL1 compared to the 14 1LE is the front end. I love our new front ends.

Manual Tranny only way to fly. It has the leather wrap on the wheel and shifter. Im glad cause the suede wears fast.

I was happy it was totaled. Once the frame was bent it opens up a world of labor. You need to take the engine tranny and dash out to fix. No good was coming from that.
