I have seen the subject car on ebay with a Canada location. It was being said to be real. But IF, that's a big IF I remember correctly...the car had a very very serious restoration/rebuild from pretty much nothing

It CAN'T be a real ZL1. There were only three Rally Sport ZL1s ever produced.

1) Black/Black Gold Stripes Vince Piggens engineering car

2) Lemans Blue/ White

3) Silver/Black

Below is dennis Barker with Fred Gibb ZL1 #1

That was the first thing I thought. The grill wasn't right.

I think the silver one in the pic's belonged to Doug Martz. I remember seeing that on in Milwaukee when he owned CPX. I bought allot of parts from him for my 68.

Doug's former ZL1 is still in the Wisconsin area last I had heard. The one shown above at the Fred Gibb show is not his car.

There is a guy here in Colorado that is doing ZL1 clones that are very realistic. Down to the aluminum 427. Still a clone none the less. I would still take one thou as his clone with a real zl1 engine is way cooler than either of my real camaros with their 327s...

So did the 1st Gen Z/28 have the 427 as well or just the ZL-1?
