Probably, plastic and high heat don't mix well, although some people have painted things with plastidip under the hood

Very true, although I don't know if I'd risk melting plastic on top of it. You could get a temp reading, then replicate that heat on a piece of scrap metal (complicated).

I have some factory orange that my stripes on my hood were done with. Plenty of it in fact. So where do I get the high temp additive?

Painting is ok. The problem is baking the components when they are disassembled. That is when it is possible to warp stuff... We do offer color options for magnusons, but the warranty is voided. (I know you dont have a warranty anyway). Most likely, it will be ok, but if you warp the housing then it would be ugly...

If you can find a body shop that will paint it without disassembling it, go for it. It might not be the most perfect job, but it would still be pretty I bet.

Yup. I'd like to know more about the heat resistant additive. I already have the IOM paint.

We had one of the Trailblazer SS ladies, make her's PINK!

She pimp'd out her trim on her truck in pink too!







Here was here write up. Holding up well too.

Prep work is 90% of the job but I'm not sure I want to try and sand the rough texture down.

Yes mine was booth sprayed off the car with the blower torn down and about three hours of prep! The coating is not thick just good quality so knock down the ruff stuff prep all good and shoot very very very light coats should turn out well!

I'm actually pulling mine back off and apart to fix where the Jack Shaft spon losse it won't be as bad to prep but I'm sure I can DIY it for everyone!

So I can just add it to my factory IOM and paint it then?
