I have some factory orange that my stripes on my hood were done with. Plenty of it in fact. So where do I get the high temp additive?

Rattle can will get me absolutely throttled by a nameless person on here.

Agreed. Powder coating is out.

If I can't match the OEM that my grill and stripes are done with I will skip it.

Painting is ok. The problem is baking the components when they are disassembled. That is when it is possible to warp stuff... We do offer color options for magnusons, but the warranty is voided. (I know you dont have a warranty anyway). Most likely, it will be ok, but if you warp the housing then it would be ugly...

If you can find a body shop that will paint it without disassembling it, go for it. It might not be the most perfect job, but it would still be pretty I bet.

Yup. I'd like to know more about the heat resistant additive. I already have the IOM paint.

We paint them with a high heat mix to match the factory color. Ask Gene from GM Partshouse for pics.

Prep work is 90% of the job but I'm not sure I want to try and sand the rough texture down.

Yes mine was booth sprayed off the car with the blower torn down and about three hours of prep! The coating is not thick just good quality so knock down the ruff stuff prep all good and shoot very very very light coats should turn out well!

I'm actually pulling mine back off and apart to fix where the Jack Shaft spon losse it won't be as bad to prep but I'm sure I can DIY it for everyone!

So I can just add it to my factory IOM and paint it then?

I guess I better go get me a cheap spray gun.

Also, I like the textured look. It will still have that right?

I'd really appreciate a DIY on how to paint my red Maggie orange. I have the next 4-5 months to prep & paint.

I would think if you just scuffed it up lightly it should still have the textured look. Don't foget sealer, paint with addtive and yes it just adds to the paint, then clear.

This is only a few months old so I'm not necro-threading...

Any thoughts on getting some paint mixed w/ a little high temp and then brushing it on with a sharp brush? I'm thinking of doing the "ribs" on my whipple in VR to match the car. I have an artistic friend with a hand much more steady than mine.
