You can get a complete paint, door jambs, efc. For $3500.
My point is that if you are thinking about buying a hot wheels car just because you like the color(and many of us do) you can get the car painted and save approx. $3500.

Maybe at Maaco, or a DIY project. Any real shop doing a decent full color change will run you over $3,500 easy... Unless you have a shop giving you a hook up on a great price for labor... as in under the table good buddy type deal. At 80 man hours that would be ~$43 a hour.

But That's not the point of the thread.

Well I don't know about others, this is just me personally but:

Transformers: cheesy

Hot wheels: cheesy

Kinetic blue metallic: eFFing awesome and if GM only offers this color on the hot wheels package that will be the epic of epic fails on GM's part.

Again, not knocking on the transformers package at all or anyone who has a transformers edition. If that's what you like....cool. But me personally, no bueno.

Since I didn't really say it above... I think it's awesome.
It also seems to me that a Special Edition should have unique color

I understand wanting certain colors, I absolutely wanted my Camaro to be Hugger Orange!
Maybe Chevy will see there way to release another similar blue down the road.

Love the kinetic blue metallic color and strangely those little emblems grown on you after awhile. Although I must admit, the Transformer logo still freaks me out a little when I get into in the car.

Would you buy a new Camaro to get this color if it were a production option (not Hot Wheels)?

Yea but the special color associated with the SEMA hot wheels Camaro is that awesome antifreeze green color? Why didn't they use a variation of that?

Just curious.

I like this color, too! Just don't think I'd buy it (or have bought it, if it were offered).

I wish I could have had this color on my 1LE! It's the closest I've seen to my favorite color: 1969 Lemans Blue (see the 69 Camaro in my garage.)

Beautiful color. Love the idea. I doubt the 1LE will be available on the Hot Wheels though. Conflicting stripes and wheels etc. At some point I'm sure they'll open the color up to all models. Assuming there's enough demand. (which I'm sure there will be.)

Have never seen that color in person but every pic I've seen is amazing. I don't think I could say Kinetic Blue trumps Lemans blue, but it's close enough for me.

Mine would have to be a SS 1LE. Yea a HotWheels model is interesting, but no way would I actually own it. Especially with the price tag.

Love the color!!!!!!!!

I thought this part from the original post was pretty interesting:

Quote:
But the concept's metallic green finish wasn't production viable. Ultimately, designers chose medium blue, similar to a spectraflame blue used on Hot Wheels toy cars in the 1960s and to an aqua blue exterior paint Chevy receives many requests to bring back into production, Fitzpatrick said.
I'm guessing this is the same blue that made an appearance not long ago on the pace car that we thought was Aqua Blue, but turns out it wasn't. Just a very similar blue, without the Aqua....which is what most people would prefer.

I think this is the medium blue that would sell well. The Aqua blue didn't because it looked horrible online and some people just don't like the "greenish" tint on cloudy days. I fall a little into that category, but to this day I still get compliments on the color...its amazing and I would never get rid of the car because ABM makes it one of the more unique Camaros on the road. I've grown even more fond of the color since I bought it back in 2009 and I love it....in the sun its just spectacular. (sorry, I am a bit bias as well!)

But in a perfect world, if they had offered this metallic blue which looks like ABM does in the sun and still keeps more of a blue tint in the shade, versus Aqua Blue....I'd have gone with this.

I will admit that if this color is released it will likely make my car seem less unique which would suck lol.

I love the blue....would even trade in or sell my car to get it.....but the 21" wheels and 7 grand are not in my budget or possible.....guess I can be very happy to have my car. Awesome color, I dont care for all the hot wheels stuff ( its cool though) . But 37k for a 2lt is steep, that would be around 45 or 46k for the 2ss....right?

But That's not the point of the thread.
You are correct, $3500 for a complete paint job done correctly is way too cheap. Unless its MAACO. How do I know? Oh, I dunno, maybe because I have had my own small bodyshop in business since 1984? Anyway, the point is, I have never ordered a new Camaro because I wanted a decent bright blue metallic.I am NOT buying a new car to totally dis-assemble it and paint it. That is ridiculous. Many here at Camaro5 over the years know I have whined about it. I am going to SEMA this week, and I will check the car out. It looks cool from the pics! I don't know if I can afford the extra 7K for the Hotwheels package, but, hopefully, GM will let us order KBM on regular model Camaros....PLEEEEEEEZE, GM? Mr. Settlemire, can you shed some light on that possibility? Thanks!
