Agony & Ecstasy..painting the stripes

After waiting 7 months for the Camaro and having less than 70 miles on it, we turned it over to our friend Roberto to have our stripes painted on rather than use the rally stripes that came with the car. I have to tell you it is not for the faint of heart. watching them take your car apart and seeing it in pieces is one hard image to handle. You have to have such faith in your painter or you could ruin your car. This is our trip down that road.

that means that the mirror is 38.75% the size of the vertical windshield...
it sure seems like the ratio could be better... just sayin....

Nice ride.

Where did they take it apart??

When you pull the engine and tranny out and maybe everything in the interior including all the panels, seats and dashboard and even the carpet. That's taken apart.

Great video picture post!......
What did he charge you and who decided on the size....and extent of where to start and stop the stripes?

Would love to see a couple full-sized photo post here in this thread of the final product!

First, the disassembly. To do it right, the front end had to removed, the spoiler, the the rear bumper and the taillights. I went by everyday and saw further disassembly of a brand new car. To do the stripes and to not have an edge, everything must be prepared so that everything can be clear coated. That makes a big difference in the labor. It could have simply been painted on with an edge and it would have been cheaper. I also did the satin back panel. Total cost, 7 days, was $1100. I am very pleased with the work and know that it will last.

So they cleared the whole car, right? I'm still on the fence as to what stripes to go with, but I do know they will be painted and not vinyl.
