A special edition of a special edition. What we need is a COPO in convertible form, with Synergy Green Paint, Pace Car stripes done in Anniversary paint, Transformers badged, Dusk, mounted on ZL1LE suspension designed by Niemen Marcus, 2SS1L(S)T Special Edition. If I could only get that with an RS option...

You think? They wouldn't need to market that! They just need to PRODUCE that! For $90000 it SHOULD'VE been a street driven racer.

Yes, as one of two, they will be too expensive, rare and valuable to drive and race
25 years from now, those two COPO rag tops will be worth millions.
Jay Leno has the right investment idea.

Muscle cars should be hardtops. Sports cars should be convertibles.

The Camaro is a coupe. Where does that leave us?

Technically you're right, but they were designed as hardtops. When they went into production they added the dam B pillars.

It's a hot rod. It's cool. It's not supposed to make sense. That's the point of this car.

Convertible and coupe Camaros were designed and developed at the same time.

I agree that it sucks we could not have something like the COPO for the road right off the showroom floor. BTW: Here is a very recent wreck of a 1970 Chevelle Convertible showing how it handled a crash on the highway at speed...

But...the new COPO isn't suppsoed to see street use, which means: no highway driving

You're taking the fact that news cars are better than old cars and somehow stating that this is why there's a new COPO convertible. Those things don't support one another. It is true that new cars protect the occuplants better. However, not knowing the events that led to the '70 Chevelle's condition, it's not possible for me to determine anything other than something bad happened or what a new Camaro would have looked like after the same event...know what I mean? That pic is indictaive on one specific accident. That doesn't mean all '68 to '72 A-Bodies fold up on the highway just because they are convertibles. I'm sure I could find a horrible Camaro carcass, isolated pics with no data don't mean much, to me at least. Those people probably died but at some point, if the wreck is bad enough, people are gonna die

But while it is true that new cars protect you beter than old ones, that doesn't give a valid reason for the convertible COPO. There is no reason, given the arena that the new COPO is supposed to operate in, for the car to be a convertible.

Yes sure the new COPO convertible is stronger than a 1970 Chevelle convertible, but the question isn't "Which convertible is stronger?" Not only does the convertible tend to need a heavier overall structure, but the airflow over the vehcile is hardly optimum, top up or down

Just sayin

But GM is still alive...and they're making cool cars again...like the COPO.

Nice Eagle/Westlake pic, Chris.
