I use Mobil 1 even though it is not required, but I think worth the money and change at 3,000 miles.

To keep your warranty you would need at the minimum a DEXOS certified oil.

It comes from the factory with Mobil 1....Mobile 1 is Dexos-certified....and Mobil 1 is what I've put back into it. Once at 500 mi. Once at 1500 miles, and again, in a few days, at 8000 miles.

But in reality, as Azzkker said - anything that's full synthetic and dexos certified will work. I think valvoline is not dexos certified, but it's because they refused to pay for the certification...supposedly they meet or exceed the requirements.

According to my dealer, the ZL1 does not come with Mobil One and less expensive Dexos oil meets warranty, but they recommended Mobil One and I think it is worth the extra money.

here is a list of Dexos approved oil...Valvoline has apparently snubbed the Dexos approval.

Mobil1, Amsoil, or Redline - they are all good with slight variations.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance. It does not cost much more than normal Mobil 1 but has better engine protection properties. I am going to use it and change at every 5K
