Cup holder footwell lights.

Anybody have the cup holder lights? Do you always need to use the switch to turn on?

Purchased mine from SJMautoprod and they come on as soon as you open the door and stay on while driving. The footwell lights are wired to come on with the dome light. Tony did a great job with this kit.

Your lights are not the stock that the dealer installed. I think the stock ones we use a switch it comes with. Thanks.

Yes, I have them, same as always, switch to change colors (cycle through colors and intensity), off and can have an automatic effects by holding the switch in for so many seconds.

Yes, I know all that. The manual says it comes on also with the door light, but it does not. Do your lights come on?

That was not the question in your post/thread....but no they do not come on since they are hooked into the asessory switch power. Only come on with car on/ key switch in asessory position. The wires hook into the cigarette lighter power.

no, the holes are not there, you need to drill holes and remove console, but the directions are good.

That is what I am asking, do your footwell lights come on with the ignition switch turned on, with Out pushing the switch? It seems the book is wrong, you always have to push the switch with the ignition switch on.
I hooked to the aux power as directed, but the owners manual insert says they will come on with ignition switch at the setting they were left with the small switch.

One thing you do not need to do is remove the shifter knob on the M6 just take the 4 screws out to the cover.

I have them--dealer installed. I just checked on how they operate. They will come back on to which ever mode/color they were on when the car was last turned off. They need to be manually turned off with the push button switch near the cup holder in the center console if you don't want them on. What's weird is that when starting the car 'fresh' and turning them on, and shutting the car off again, they DO default back to off. But if you turn them back on and you drive the car, then shut it off, start it back up again, the lighting will come back on in it's previous mode each time you start the car. Must be some kind of timer delay?!

And they do not work in conjunction with the courtesy lights when the door is opened.

Howdy Texas, I have the cup/footwell lite pkg in my ZL1. Love it! Stays on whatever setting it was last set on in mine. I was looking at yr pics. Love that big dog Riley! And the horse, is that yours as well? I'll be moving back to Texas soon, from corpus originally. Texas will always be home, but I will miss New England.

My lights did that, now they come on when starting the engine.
So I guess the book is right.
