Thinking about ordering a 1LE 1SS

So i'm strongly debating ordering a 1LE 1SS. Apart from the suspension, exhaust, and wheels, is the Dual mode exhaust included in the package. Do all the camaro's come with mylink now? How you guys liking it? Any auto-x'ers or track day'ers here?

I'm trying to justify getting a used 2SS and just prepping it for the occasional Auto-x and track day over getting a new slimmed down 1SS with the 1LE package.

I've always been the bargain hunter and never been one to pay full price for a new car. So it's quite the dilemma, do i want to get a used 2SS and mod it to get me what i want for my track day purposes (Modding can be fun!) or do I get a head start with a 1LE 1SS. Money is always an issue because no one likes to spend too much of it, and although i have enough to drop on a brand new 1LE 1SS, I still am more of the conservative type and like to look for deals and bargains. Plus I'm cheap.... haha.. well not always i just think a lot before spending.

Dual mode is an option .......Other than that the 1LE package is worth well more than the 3500 price tag. You cant take a stock SS and make it compete with a 1LE for 3500 bucks. If you are buying new you would be crazy not to get the 1LE. Its the best bang for the buck that chevy offers....Look at the price of the dusk and the hotwheels edition's and they offer absolutely nothin to the car other than cosmetic ad ons for alot more money... Get the 1LE

Just price out what the wheels and tires cost and compare that to the price of the 1LE package.

A 1SS 1LE would be a very budget minded way to go.

Yep. Getting a 1LE brand new under MSRP in the $35K range can be done if you don't need options.

Wow I got whiplash reading your post.

The 2013 SS is an improvement in many areas over the earlier models add the 1LE package and you have, dollar for dollar, the best performance package on the market today.

You can go to the Chevy website and do a build your own and you can see everything that is standard and optional and price it out the way you want. Then you can print off the results and take it to the dealer and start negotiating.

lol dayum... well see if i can't make an appointment with a dealer and see where i'd be looking if i get one ordered. Been watching videos all night of them. Driving me nuts. If the price tag runs close to 38k i might just end up going for a used C6 Z06

If you do go with a used SS make sure it's a 2012 and up....so you aren't going broke from changing the FE3 suspension to the FE4 which is what the 1LE is based on.

FE3 cars suck for handling

well if i got a used SS i would just go straight aftermarket like pfadt or pedders. They had some nice track/street kits on their website. granted some of those a long were close to 4k but i was looking at used SS's in the mid to high 20's. Camaro's aren't selling so well used here. Found a fully loaded orange 2SS/RS go for 26,500 from a dealer. It was sold before i could pursue it. it had ~6,000 miles. People here in seattle don't drive sports cars year round so a lot of them have super low miles.

If you like modding, the 1LE/npp is a much better starting point. Well in my opinion it is. Start adding headers, hf cats, a udp and a tune, just standard mods; 1LE will be a beast.

Here is the List of changes for $3500

close ratio manual transmission that has higher final drive (3.91 vs. 3.45)
air-to-liquid cooling system lifted from the ZL1 (trans and oil coolers)
20-inch wheels covered in Goodyear Eagle Supercar G:2 tires, 285 on all 4 corners
Improved wheel bearings
Improved toe links
Better rear shock mounts
rear monotube shocks
thicker antiroll bars
strut-tower bar
beefed up the rear-axle half-shafts
ZL1's high-capacity fuel pump and additional fuel pickups were also added to prevent fuel starvation in hard-cornering situations.
matte-black hood
functional front splitter
rear spoiler
Oil catch can
red Brembo brake calipers
ZL1's flat-bottom, microfiber-covered steering wheel
short shifter topped with a microfiber shift knob.

I'm sure I'm missing something, the list is long.

And Don't forget electric power steering in 2013 models, and NPP dual mode exhaust is a must just for the sound (especially with the fuse pull)

Even with a 26k ss2 you would spend more upgrading it to 1le standards. Heck the wheels and tires alone will set you back 4-5k

Since NPP doesn't add any performance, and adds nearly a grand to the price ($895), it might not be the best option for a low budget track car.

To the OP, you would come out financially better just getting a 1LE. As others have mentioned here, re-engineering an SS for track work takes time and money. The GM engineers have already done the work for you. Plus, the 1LE package will likely add some value at time of sale, while most mods will not (and may even detract from the resale value).

For a low budget car certainly. However in terms of performance on the corvette NPP is rated as adding 6hp, not a lot of bang for the buck certainly, but really does add a lot in terms making the car sound better.

I thought 6hp was pretty normal for cat-back and that $895 installed is also par for the course.

Am I incorrect? Are there options that are vastly superior to NPP for less than $895 installed?

$895 from the factory is right...i would argue that you couldn't do better for the price, and it's a factory install. i haven't seen anyone who got NPP say anything less than they love it (myself included).

That's 6hp on the Corvette. I haven't seen anything to that effect on the Camaro. They are two completely different exhaust systems.

Well doesn't' seem to be hardly any 1LE 1SS's anywhere near me, searching for one through GM's site is difficult. I have a feeling if i try to order one they are going to figure out a way to hand me my ass on price. If the price tag is near 40k definitely would expand my options for alternative fun track potential cars.

I don't intend to thread jack, but I was at car meet today, and was able to compare the npp exhaust on a 2011 Z06, and my 1LE. I was quite suprised to find the Vettes muffler was HUGE, like a 5 gallon metal can, and ours being slender taking up less space. I wonder how that translates to airflow for ours vs theirs

nothing to think about ORDER IT !!! and with NPP after now having this hottie, i would pay $2000.00 for the sound...and pull the fuse.In fact i upgraded to botson acoustics, and dont listen to the radio till im done going through the gears and am on the frwy.
