FOR NOW.

The Challenger will very soon be offered in a 6-speed.

The more important issue is, will there be a Chrysler Corporation to BUILD the car? Chrysler is in big trouble. Regardless of how much of a fan of GM I am, this is very sad. There is a very real chance there will not be a Chrysler Corp within the next few years. That would be a tragedy for Michigan and the USA as a whole.

I hope this does not come to pass, but I am not confident :(

I share similar feelings. Only difference is, I believe there WILL be a Chrysler Corp - only it will be severly smaller than the one we've all grown to despise. (JOKING!!!)

Cerebus is soley in the business of making money. Word it they are going to sell Chrysler in a few years, so they must make it worth more than it is now.

And when they do sell it - if they continue with their current plan, Chrysler will be much smaller, but more profitable.
How do I know/say this? They are looking to cut HALF it's dealers off. How? By deliberately offering fewer models, and forcing singular dealers (i.e. Dodge, OR Jeep, etc) to either consolidate or die. And all the while saying too bad, so sad...we don't miss you.
Not to mention that if any dealers object, rumor has it they are going to starve said dealer of certain models, basically shooting them right between the eyes....nice, Cerebus.

The DI 3.6 makes a lot of sense. V8 sales are declining. Yes there will still be a market for V8 Camaros (AKA us) but V6s have always been the volume model and the gap will grow even more I think. And GM said they want 2 V6s at launch. Well how about an every day V6 for the people who want the image but don't care much about performance, but then an awesome V6 for the people who want a good balance of performance, efficiency, and value? I mean a V6 Camaro that makes the same power as the current Mustang GT and the 350Z, and around what we expect the top Genesis coupe to make? You'd have to be an idiot to not buy the Camaro. A 300hp DI 3.6L V6 (or something similar) would almost be enough to dissuade me from the V8. But just almost. I'm sure it would find a lot of takers.

I am so terrified that they'll sell it to some Chinese venture.

Imagine some company like Jiangling with a ready-made US dealership base to peddle their shoddily made garbage.

It saddens me greatly :(

Sigh, Chinese cars. As if I don't already have enough cars breaking down in the middle of the freeway and lengthening my commute.

well thats good news for my buddy wanting the challanger but bad news for the company. i do also like chrysler products.when are they planning on making the 5 or 6 spd manula version, 09?? i had a 300c as a rental car a couple weeks ago and it was a pretty nice car. i like chrysler /dodge because them , unlike gm, have affordable RWD sedans. i am a solid gm fan though.

The G8 GT is off the boat and on its way to your local Pontiac dealer with a slightly lower MSRP than a Charger R/T. Neither one offers a stick, but the G8 GT is said to have a better auto (with an extra ratio) and a bigger V8.

From the pix, it looks like the G8 has a switch to turn of the traction control witch I understand is missing from the Mopars.

The 2009 models will start production in september 08.. so a 6 speed charger/challenger (possibly 300) will be available after that month. The 6 speed will be available on the R/T and SRT8 models only and WILL NOT have MDS. BUT the new 5.7 380hp hemi will debut with the new 6 speed as an option (NOT standard)
