Try the marketplace (classifieds), this thread just informs people about the different types of exhaust out there

Just looking to a video/sound clip of the exhaust. I want to know what it sounds like as well before I make my final decision. Heard they sound great but I have yet seen a clip of it in action. Was hoping this would be the thread I would get to hear it.

For cat-back I don't own one but I heard Ark and Corsa are great ones

Tonight when I update the list I will look to see if there clips available and if so I will post them here!

Thank you

What's the difference between cat back and axle back? I heard axle back doesn't give any increase in power, while cat backs do. Is that true? I like the corsa and borla cat backs but I think I might go with the MRT axle back v2 because of the price difference. Any opinions?

A cat-back is a exhaust system they starts from the end of your catalytic converters (how you get the name cat-back) all the way to the back of the car and out the back

A axle-back is a much shorter exhaust system because it only runs from your rear axle to the back of the car and out the back

A cat-back you just have to unbolt the stock pipe from the catalytic converter and bolt the new cat-back in. I am pretty sure that's right

A axle-back you have to make a cut at the rear axle (all axle-backs with vary slighty on exactly where you need to cut. Take measurements before)

But yes you have heard right Corsa and Borla are both great cat-backs. For the V6s people defiantly prefer Corsa over Borla because 1. The Corsa are better made and the Borla are a little pricey 2. The Corsa cat-backs sound better then the Borla (in my opinion and most others but that's up to you of which one sounds better)

Now for the MRT V2.... I personally have the MRT V1 and I can even explain how much I like it! Once you install it and let the mufflers break in for a hundred miles it sounds so great! The differences is that the MRT V1 is louder at idle and low RPMs but the at WOT (wide open throttle) they both sound almost the same. If you want loud and aggressive all the time get the MRT V1 if you want mild but loud and aggressive when you want it get the MRT V2. Either way you can't go wrong because the MRT V1 and the MRT V2 are by far the most popular axle-back exhaust system if not the most popular exhaust system for the V6 Camaros

Thanks Colin, definitely going to help me make my decision. One last question, do you get the same power gains between the cat back and axle back exhausts? Thanks!

Expect little to no gain from either set-up. If if there is positive performance it is so slight you'll never notice it.

So both of them are just pretty much for sound then right?

Yeah that tends to be what everyone agrees on. An axle back won't give you much of anything. Some argue whether the cat-back does or not. Any gain you see will be minimal at best.

Choose your exhaust based on sound.

I have the MRT V2.0 and I love the sound they make at all throttle positions. Here is a clip from Marano racing.

There is also another clip at there website from inside the car.

I myself prefer the throatier sound at idle. I have personally only heard mine inside the car at wide open but it sounds great inside. There is the dreaded drone at Interstate speeds, 65 MPH, but it is not bad to me and I don't mind it. All the research I did listening to YouTube videos and exhaust this was the one I ordered and don't regret it. I myself did not like some of the other with the raspy sound at wide open. Just my $.02.

Dean.

Farley may be right about not much more power, but I bet there is some for sure. Anything to let an engine breathe better is a potential power adder. I would bet its good for 5-8 hp alone, and in conjunction with an intake and TB another 3-4. But really the sound alone is worth it. I have all three mods and my car is DEFINITELY faster than stock. A tune would likely produce more results too with the add-ons.

Thanks for all the info guys, really appreciate it! I am getting an exhaust along with CAI and TB. I would really love to get a tune as well, however I really don't want to blow my warranty...

I'm leaning toward Borla's Touring exhaust:

Or Corsa's performance exhaust #14953:

Anyone here have any of these exhaust installed?

the video of the 2013 dual mode is so bad. We need a video of the car like any other exhaust video

If you are going for that sound you need to add a couple cylinders to your engine.

This is the V6 LFX Exhaust thread!

Ok fine!

I'll go with this one then:

http://www.borla.com/products/produc...rod_sku=140282

I wonder if the other could be installed on a V6?

I put an SS exhaust on my LFX and originally installed it just for the 2 1/2 pipes and was going to put a set of magnaflows on it but the more time I put on the exhaust the deeper the tone gets and I am just going to save the money and leave it alone for now. Free is always good.

SS CAT-BACKS will work if the pipes are 2.5" all around. You cannot out a SS axle-back on a LFX because the LFX is 2.5" pipes to I think the resonators and the. 2.25" pipes the rest of the way and the SS pipes are 2.5" pipes all the way back
