Need your help here...

I have a 2012 Camaro SS 6.2 with an auto and vert. I just made an appointment with Slp to install a new supercharger. This should give 550 hp and when I asked about adding headers(by Slp), they said the warranty would be void on the supercharger. Any idea why this would be ? Also, how much Hp/Tq will the rear end/trany/driveshaft take ? I will be using this car on the track with slicks and did not want to wreck anything. Thanks

Your tranny should be fine. It's the rear end that will go first. Long as you don't run slicks the rear will be fine. Run slicks and the rear won't last long at all. Keep an eye on the bolts that connect the driveshaft to the rear... Running slick, they will bend and eventually break. First mod after the supercharger should be to upgrade the driveshaft and rear... I went with the DSS 9' kit with the one piece aluminum driveshaft.

Headers voiding the warranty on the supercharger, has me puzzled.... I have headers on mine since day one and haven't had any problems.

You should get them to explain why....

I am assuming you are talking about the warranty on the supercharger itself and not the car's warranty.

Most supercharger manufactuerers will only warranty the supercharger installed on a stock car with the supercharger companies canned tune. The issue is, most of the time, these tunes suck, and only have 4-5 lbs of boost. Because of this, pretty much everyone gets a custom tune, and smaller pulley's, which void the supercharger warranty.

In your situation, when you add things like headers, it requires a special tune voiding the warranty. Honestly...in my mind the works supercharger and warranty of any kind do not go togethor. When you go adding 150 HP..stuff will break if you use that power consistantly.

Go with DSS rear and sleep well knowing you'll never have to worry about the rear.

Any idea cost for the drive-shaft and rear-end ? I would not mind changing the gears at the same time. What gears would you recommend ? I use the car for track and Sunday drives. My goal would be to get my car in the high 10's in the 1/4 mile.

I am pushing well over 600whp and just had my rear end go on me. My spiders heard shattered and I bent the bolts as described above. I daily drive my car as well but I have last over 2 years with this much power and tons of abuse. But yes, if you can afford it grab the DSS kit. For a complete setup I believe is between $6000-7000.

sent from my galaxy s3. that would explain the errors.

I went with 3.70 gears... If,I was to do it again. I'd say 4.11 gears. Think I paid around 6600.00 for my rear.

It's worth every penny. I broke my spider gears at the track and was getting the one wheel burnouts. Since I've installed the DSS 9' I haven't had any problems with my rear. I have 628rwhp.
