Door Sill Installation

Well I recieved my door sills earlier this week from Camaro Scotty/Dave and just got to install them. Did the engineers screw the pooch on this one. They send you a template to cut out that is supposed to fit around the door latch and on the other end the door sill should align up. Well the door latch bracket is square and the template is a half circle. Tell me that a engineer at GM knows the difference between circles and squares.

Anyway enough venting anyone else install them, I just wanted to know any tricks you may have done?? Thinking of just making my own template so everything aligns up on both sides.

I think they are just a stick down and forget application. Based on the picture below, I dont see where the sill plate even comes close to the latch.

Man, I'd better be careful and not use a steam iron on that! A steam iron!

flip the template over in this pic.....lay it around the latch.....butt the left end of the door sill up to the right side of the template and lay it in down in place....working in this case, left to right.......

result......sill is centered in the door opening?????

The little package of glue that comes with them says its for installation on the convertible. Does anyone think we should use this or is it not good for installation on the painted surface?

I used it on mine, it just helps with the adhesion, Throw the directions out they are worthless. Just make sure you wipe any excess off

No that doesn't work, ended up using painters tape and a tape measure.
