I guess you will have to jump into the import scene to achieve that weight and those numbers.

You are going to make a 5th gen that weighs 3100? Or find another car? My pops had a lime green Vega with a 350 back in his day. If you are going to find another car I vote a Chevy II.

To be under 3,100 lbs I'm thinking either fiberglass as much of the body as possible - or lots and lots of carbon fiber

I don't see 3100 being a problem with a body in white and careful planning. (I need my car to be light weight to offset my less-than-light weight body.)

I think you should be able to get a 5th gen under 3100, carbon nose, doors, trunk and everything out that you don't need. No problem. I can't wait to see this build.

3100 is an easy target. I'm a C-hair over 3400 with a cage, and I still have a full interior and stereo. There is 170 pounds of structure and wiring behind the dash alone. Add in some lightweight suspension and drag brakes, and I'd be just over 3k. Wallet mods

Mike Meeks has a BIW and his raceweight is <3000. He's running a 4th gen 9" + torque arm setup. GMHTP has run some pics on it and you can find Mike on here, LS1Tech, FB and YB.

I think I would look for a salvage Camaro. That body-in-white lists for $8800. There's tons of flooded Camaros in the New York/New Jersey area. Some of them are brand new with the window stickers still in them. Practically all the stuff that was damaged by the flood would be stuff that you'd be removing anyway, but you'd be getting a lot more parts than a body-in-white. The body-in-white has no glass, bumper covers, lights, front suspension, etc. With a salvage you'd have lot's of parts to sell to help recover your expenses. A salvage will have a VIN and a title, which would be nice if you ever want to make it streetable. A VIN and a title will make it more valuable if you decide to sell it down the road. If you don't like the"food puppy" idea, there's still lots of wrecks and stolen-and-recoveries. One that was hit just hard enough in the front to set off the air bags would make a nice race car. Here's my COPO parts list, if you don't already have the numbers.
