2012 SS vs. 2013 Ford Fusion

I was in the drive thru the other night and saw a 2013 Fusion pull in with the license pate "V8TER". Young kid and the car looked stock (Titanium model I think). I asked him if he did any racing and he stated he was planning on it when spring came around. His personal plate was his statement about smoking muscle and sports cars on the track. Its winter and my car is stored but would love to see if his stock Fusion holds its own against a Challenger, Mustang or Camaro...

Nope. I think the highest a stock 2013 Fusion goes is 240 hp. And it's not a particularly light car. Can't really rely on the launch either, as being a FWD, it's probably difficult to launch a Fusion. To be fair, it's reasonably quick for the midsize family sedan class, but no match for a proper pony/muscle car.

I read with a CAI and cold weather they still cant hit 14s. They will need a s/c or turbo to get anywhere close to beating an SS.

Um, he said 13 which means the top fusion already has a turbo (2.0 turbo ecoboost). Anyways, you should have no problems with him, or any V6 pony car for that matter..........

Maybe it's a new car that he transferred plates? Maybe he had a Viper before and decided a Fusion was more up his alley

This shouldn't even be a question, you shouldn't have an issue with him.

I suppose I posted this out of sheer morbid curiosity than out of general concern. I'm still a new "motorhead" but even I knew right away this kid must be watching too much tv. He seemed really hyped about his car, so I didnt have the heart to knock his ego down...figure he will get it when he hits the track. For a mid size sedan, it did not look half bad. Kinda has a Aston Marton look at the front. Still, guess this kid saw the word "turbo" and translated it as "...turbo's are always faster than any stock engine...".

FWIW-
My ex 3300lb HHR SS 2.0t w/turbo upgrade kit could almost hang with my wife's LLT, so a V8 should walk away from him easily.
