AFE "average fuel economy" display not working right?
before i added my CAI it was showing that my fuel economy was about 20.7 "whether i drove it normal or fast", then i added my CAI inductions CAI now it only shows around 21.6, and it doesnt matter whether i drive the speed limit or punch it, it doesnt change. something doesnt seem right, any thoughts?

Try resetting it and see if it changes then.

So it went to zero then up to what it reads now and not changed since? Have you reset it again to see if it does the same thing?

It doesnt update by the second...dont really know if thats what your asking.
If it is accurate and working right a mile more out of every gallon will pay for that CAI in no time |

Well it's an average so if you are punching it sometimes and driving normal sometimes the two will probably counteract each other and not change the avg much.

thats how its designed to work.... it take total miles/gas usage. It tells you your average since you last set it, not what you are getting right at that second. |

i know that every car is different but it just seems like alot of the other guys that have installed the CAI are getting a decent mileage increase and mine has barely changed. so it just didnt seem correct, and i drive alot different than my wife does and it still stays the same.

The longer you drive it between resets the slower the readout will change. It's the total average MPG since last reset. I usually reset mine at each fillup and I reset the trip odometer too so I know how many miles since it was reset. This will also allow you to manually figure your mpg the old fashion way and after a while you will see how much error there is between the two.

average fuel economy of 21+ is actually quite good. Not sure what you are looking for? you have to remember that these cars are generally in the 24-25 when freeway driving and 15-18 in town driving.

im definitely not complaining about what im getting, i just didnt know if the DIC was correct. i guess that i was just expecting a tad better gas mileage from the CAI

Get the GM app for your smart phone. On a 2013 it will show you your cars lifetime average and the average everytime you reset the DIC. The app is out for I-Phone and Droid.
Also if you have a SS you are doing great on mileage. My cars lifetime average when delivered to me was 13mpg and now is 17mpg with 2630 miles on her. The app is ON RemoteLink on the I-Phone. |
