LLoyds Trunk Mat for 2014 - Problem, don't buy!

Got a trunk mat for Christmas - suppose to be custom fit but we have 2 "bumps" in the trunk so the mat doesn't sit flat - company tells me no refund because the "bumps" have no purpose and the mats are custom fit..... wow!!

Here is your pic , its shows the mat pulled back and the pieces it is sitting on top of - love the floor mats, its the trunk they are telling me its OK not to sit flat - how can you tell me something that is put in by the manufacturer is "not useful" so we design our "custom fit mat" for the whole trunk and ow by the way its ok that it doesn't sit flat?? That is not custom fit - and that's what I thought they were known for. I would ask if your going to order. I would love to hear I'm crazy and others have the fitted trunk mat that sits flat that's just not what the manufacturer wrote me.

That's like saying you were expecting a square trunk mat but the trunk isn't exactly square. The trunk isn't flat to begin with so how do you expect a trunk mat to change that? Is it a total deal breaker or is it a nice mat?

^^^This

The GM rubber trunk mat is the same way, it is something we all have to deal with so you should just decide if you like the mat itself. I guess you could build up the sides of the bumps with material, to make it less noticeable I suppose.

I am in the other camp, IF it is indeed listed as "custom fit" and not "generic fit". To me that is the same as an off the rack vs tailored suit argument. I would be none to happy if my "custom fit" pant legs were an inch short......

Liked said before the gm mat is the same way. Custom fit means the outline of the trunk and it will fit the trunk. I bet you will not find a mat anywhere that is going around those two bumps.

Indeed, that's not custom fit. That's crap. Why do you guys defend a misleading product? Are you all major shareholders? Or, does it feel like an insult to your floor mats?

So here is another little fun fact - THEY HAVE THEM FOR THE CORVETTE with the cutouts....................

Bottom line is this is not custom by my definition and as you can see from the weathertech mat - there is a company that understands what custom fit means - so yes Gary24 mad as Tom Brady was when he lost to the Seahawks last year, these mats are not cheap and they shouldn't advertise the way they do

Loyds still make really nice floor mats. The trunk mat needs a little tweaking. The 2010 had a flat bottom inside.

You make a good point, and I am man enough to admit when I am wrong and I was. Not saying this product is crap, but I agree they use the term 'custom fit' a little willie nillie.

But your comparing a carpet to a molded plastic liner.

Midnight, I think we are debating the proper (or improper in this case) use of the term "custom fit" to sell something as an "upgraded" version over a competitor. I believe the OP is 100% right to be pissed about it.

Backeddy, what I was referring to that the lloyds mat is custom to the outline of the trunk, and not a universal mat that fits all. I don't think you will find a carpet mat that will have those improvisions for those two humps unless you go to a plastic liner. I just received front mats from lloyds yesterday for my Sierra and those had terrible fit and the sales guy told me they were custom, they were not even close to the outline of the floorboard. I called today and they are taking them back and sending the ups label to send back. So op should be able to return the mat also

You may be right on the carpet, but I know my carpet for my 67 was completely molded (most of them anyhow...). Sorry to hear about the Sierra mats, at least they are taking them back, which says a lot about their service. I cannot count how many times I have gotten the "did you open the packaging?" excuse from many companies..

The problem originated after the change to suspension for 12 MY. They clearly did not update the design firm the '10 trunk floor pan. The question is how is it advertised? If it was advertised as 10-current, it is misleading and false advertisement. If it is 10-12 and you assumed it was for all 5th gens, then that's your bad. Either way, it is not custom fit to a '14 if it doesn't lay flat on the floor.

Its listed as 10-15
As far as returning the mat I was told that due to my wife buying the mat with the "SS" in the middle that it is a custom order so it can't be returned... still working on that and waiting on a return call from a manager

That would be false advertisement then. If it is designed to lay flat and does not, then you cannot call it custom fit. That's a "fits most" scenario. And others have suggested trimming but I would not want to trim it.

I agree....if I paid generic price for a generic part, I would accept some modification on my behalf may be required, or I would accept a less than perfect fit and live with it. If I paid custom price, I would expect custom fit, with no modification required.
