Tune vs chip?

What's the difference? I know what a tune is but what's the difference between both

There is no chip replacement in the camaro, just a tune unless you are talking about that cheap jet thing that doesnt do anything...

tune= real, and will yield amazing results when done by a reputable tuner

chip= no such thing , maybe you are thinking of a hand held tuner? Not sure but if you're serious get a real tune

Some companies claim chips do something. Complete scams. I saw one in an advertisement here.

Yu can't chip a 5th gen. That is old school. You can however get a tune then munch on some chips at the refreshment stand after you make a few passes.

Jet = snakeoil scam.

Guess we didn't really answer your question. On older car yes you could use a performance chip with some results. On the 5th gen you need a tune to modify what is on the flash memory. This can be done either with a real handheld you buy and boxed canned tune, email tune or take it to a pro and have them do it right there.

If you tune the car you most likely will void your powertrain warranty. If you do not care of such things. Then throw on some long tube headers and get that baby tuned up.

I can direct you to a few well known area tuners who can help you out.

Phil at Tampa Tuning or Matt at FSP. Both are local and on this board and have tuned many Camaros.

Yeah, and I can't for the life of me understand why they are allowed to advertise on here... if the chips are just a scam.

And $$$ shouldn't be a reason for C5.com to compromise their committment to their forum members. I don't believe this site would do that. There must be some validity to their product's claim.
