The 1LE does not have an automatic transmission, therefore manual is not an option. Part of the performance package. Good luck with the order.

Tools for You. Go Nuts!

Here are some tools for you. I wish you the best. Don't discuss holdback with your dealer. Just make the offer and stand firm. You need to decide how much profit is fair and reasonable. Don't gouge. But don't overpay. I've provided a four-level sensitivity range for you to play with. Also, remember you're getting $500 back from the MFR (Chevy) so you use that to calculate the real cost to yourself too.

Good luck!

EDIT: KBB Reality Check - Purchase Price Range (what are most buyers paying).

Notice that $37.2k represents the LOW end of the purchase price range as noted by KBB. But I ran these numbers in 95124 (San Jose, CA) which is an expensive part of the country. You should run the this analysis using your zip code and see if you get different results. Take a screen shot and share it back here. Remember, while the dealer has invoice prices and the same holdback e/where in the country, the offer a dealer accepts can be a function of his territory or market segment - his area in the country. You may need to check these numbers on your end and negotiate accordingly.

One more thing ... though this KBB shows the Dealer Invoice as $37,668 (note this matches my spreadsheet), KBB does NOT take into account the holdback. MFRs put the holdback in place to cover the financing of the car should the dealer not move it fast enough. Since the 1LE is a MTO (make-to-order) vehicle, the dealer has ZERO risk unless you back out of the deal. If you're going to buy, he's GOING to make his holdback which is pure and clear profit calculated at 3% of the MSRP (not invoice) even if he sells at invoice or below.

You'll hear stories in the forum of people getting $1000 off invoice. Here's what's really happening:

1. Dealer owes Mfr (using your numbers) $37,668
2. Dealer charges you $36,668.
3. Dealer gets $1,191.45 from MFR in holdback.
4. Dealer profits $191.45 ... [-37,668+36,668+1191.45]

Of course, the dealer wants to also

- charge you for a loan
- offer you all kinds of protection on closing
- have you come back for service

which is how they make their real money.

Ok, so today have been me speaking to a couple of dealerships including BeckyD. Needless to say the numbers didn't quite match up with her and a local dealer was able to give me a better deal.

So here it is:

2013 CAMARO 1LE 2SS

Options:
RS Package
Sunroof
Prem floor mats
Dual mode exhaust

Suggested Retail: $43,835.00
Market Value: $42,207.91
Factory Incentives: $1500.00 (GM $1,000 private offer) (GM $500 Hold back)
Vehicle price is: $40707.91
Destination Charge: $900.00

Price of the vehicle: $41,607.91 (does not include license/processing fee, etc)

I really did not want the Sunroof or Prem floor mats but wanted the Navagation but not having the Navagation isn't a deal breaker for me. What do you think? I do also have USAA but was not he could not combine that plus the GM Private offer. Is there any other incentives that i'm not aware of?

I got a quote last night from Don Mccue Chevy on a 1SS 1LE Inferno Orange for $34,973.
What are your thoughts here? I haven't been to any other dealers yet to compare.

That is a fair price. He is selling it to you below invoice.

IMO, paying invoice is fair. You get a fair deal and the dealership makes a small profit. I have no problem with that.
