We always take pride in the cars that we build in lansing, and now we get to take pride in one of the most iconic name plates in American motoring history.
Can't be American Muscle made in Canada

Though Team Canada has done an EXCELLENT JOB with the 5TH GEN todate, I'm glad to see it's coming home !

Made in USA = American Jobs !

It's great that production is coming back to the states, but Oshawa has done a hell of a good job. Some of the posts in this thread are just sad.

Canada you are our brother and sisters to the north and have done an outstanding service. I am very proud to see the production of more cars coming back to the U.S. either way we all win. Keep the Camaro alive as well as GM. Happy holidays to all. Hopefully we make it passed tomorrow .

I absolutely can not believe some of the posts in this thread! GM makes an announcement to take the ONLY RWD vehicle made in Oshawa and consolidate RWD into a plant, that happens to be in Michigan... and everyone thinks the sky is falling.

Did Oshawa building the camaro stop me from buying TWO 5th Gen camaros? Not at all. I Love my camaro and especially after touring the plant in 2011 and meeting some of the people who put their heart and souls into the very car i drive.... I'm extremely proud to drive my Oshawa built Camaro SS..

However LGR makes high quality vehicles.... how many people have been in a new ATS? It's a GREAT vehicle! How about a CTS-V? would you doubt the quality of the plant that builds these? I love the CTS-V fit and finish, I see one quite regularly....

Can we stop shouting about the sky falling? LGR will do a GREAT job with 6thGen Camaro! Oshawa team members will always be part of our camaro family and will always be appreciated for everything they are doing and have done for Camaro.... Without them, 5th Gen and Camaro's entire revival may not have succeeded or even happened.

Mike Judge and Oshawa Team, THANK YOU! Keep up the good work thru 5th Gen End of Production..... LGR... hopefully we will see some new faces on the forums to show us just how much your team is committed to continuing the success our neighbors to the north have started for you. Know you have big shoes to fill, us camaro people are nuts (i speak for everyone...not just me) We have high demands and expect nothing short of amazing.

as a final note....
Just think.... GM Execs/Team Camaro work between Detroit (Ren Cen) and Warren (GM Technical Campus) both in Michigan.... LGR is 1.5hrs away in Lansing...MICHIGAN.... Problem on the line? QC Issue? take a day trip to lansing and drive home that night.... No more 5hr drives accross country lines or flights to Oshawa incurring more GM expenses.

One car line out of all they make at Oahawa is not going to shut them down. In fact as I said before it is an opportunity to increase production of the cars they already make or maybe even start building a completely new model there.

And moving the Camaro to a plant where they make Cadillacs couldn't hurt quality. Caddy is trying to regain the title of "Standard of the World" for that you need quality people building quality cars.

So quityourbellyaching and enjoy your Camaro.
X10. Detroit and Michigan Need to get that mojoe back. They learned there lesson and have every right to build Detroit Muscle in Michigan where it should be built. Nothing Personal Canada , But Made in the USA is getting big now , Detroit needs to get MOTOR CITY BACK!

I am surprised at this announcement . I expect Camaro sales to taper off alot , Gm did that before and really paid the price that final year of production. There might be some good deals to be had pretty soon.

This ^^^^.....lol....Personally, with this move of plants I'd shy away from the last year Gen5 and the first year Gen6....Human nature being a factor as seen in some of these posts may find it's way to the assembly line...lol...

Like it or not, people tend to want their own country to prosper and even though it may not be the case, the impression is that Canada losing the Camaro is a bad thing....

I knew my car was built in Canada...(So was my '88 GMC dually)...hopefully cooler heads prevail...Peace!

You may be interested to know that the quality ratings of the 4th gen Camaro (and Firebird) went UP after we announced that the Ste. Therese Plant would be closed. You forget that so many of our men and women on the assembly line put their everything into what they do.....I can tell you that the people at Ste. Therese were very proud of what they did - and they were bound and determined to put out a quality product to the very end.

Similarly - the men and women at Oshawa have proven time and time again that they believe in what they do - as far as I know, we'll continue to build XTS and Regal and the new Impala at that plant (..and final assembly for some Equini...)

To say that they're going to damage cars or 'slack' just isn't so and I think is a slap in the face to some pretty remarkable people.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that this forum has members with a very wide range of age and life experiences. Glad the Camaro appeals to them all. Oh and Scott thanks... glad to see ya posting a bit more, we need ya.

OK - here's the REAL reason..........

they're moving Camaro Production CLOSER to the "Food Source" --

......it's much more expensive to ship the "food" to Oshawa - further distance AND 'food' must go thru Customs.....

(Read: what's built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan)

-- in order to reach the Camaro plant in Oshawa to "Feed the Beasts".....

Flat Rock, MI to Oshawa - 288 miles

Flat Rock, MI to Lansing - 97 miles

.......OK - I'll go back to what I was doing and 'behave' now.....

Are you implying that the Mustang is a form of food, and the Camaro is the final byproduct of digestion?

Great Car, Thank you all in Oshawa.

I am sorry to say your union did you in. On the other had I hate to see you have to work for less if there is other higher paying employment.

We have 2 different economies, yours is booming ours is trying so desperately to recover.

I predict that Oshawa will close at the end of the contract in 2016 unless major changes take place.

From the article:

GM recently invested $185 million to support the launch of two new products on the flex line as well: the all-new Cadillac XTS and the next-generation Chevrolet Impala scheduled to launch in 2013...

I believe the "flex line" refers to the Oshawa plant.

Why? They're producing four other cars in addition to Camaro.

I'm from Detroit! Family and family friends were either involved with the manufacturing of both production and R&D parts for GM or actual assembly line work. We feel that Ohio is beneath us !
