Adhesive for dash install

Has anyone found an adhesive product that isn't permenantly for sticking things to the dash? I've wiped it with rubbing alcohol and used 3m automotive emblem tape and it just won't stay firmly stuck. I have an emblem and a mount for my radar detector that I need to stick without permenantly damaging the surface like a glue adhesive.

I'm surprised that 3M auto emblem tape doesn't work.

For a period of time, I had an aftermarket microphone attached to the plastic steering column using silicone adhesive (cheap stuff in a tube from Home Depot). It kept the mic in place perfectly and when I got rid of my aftermarket stereo system, I was able to pull off the mic and very easily remove the silicone without any mark.

I have had my 1LT on my dash with 3M tape for almost 2 years now with no issues. I also had one on my 2010 for two and a half years with no issues.
If you have ever used any kind of treatment on the dash it may be very hard to remove it even with alcohol. Clean it several times and see if that helps.

Also make sure the surface is over 60 degrees. And apply pressure to it for about 30 seconds, like I said I have had no problems.
Make sure you have the correct 3m tape too, there is more than one grade.

I would try the tape again but like stated above make sure it's heated so it will stick better. Use adhesion promoter and instead of alcohol try wax and grease remover it is chemically formulated to pull out all of the crap cleaners leave behind. That's what I did never had a problem.

That 3M tape destroys your dash when you go to remove it.

I've also used 3M tape with good success. Are you making sure the alcohol has completely dried? Maybe an old roll of tape or the wrong kind? The ones I've used I'd be more worried about getting off than staying on.

Tell you what...cleaned it with ISO about ten times....it was 70 degrees out in the sun, and a brand new roll of 3M super strength emblem and moulding tape. The gray one with red backing. IT WOULD NOT STICK! it would feel like it was stuck and I go back later and craps on the floor mat...crazy...time for the nail gun. Lol

Well like I said my 1LT emblem has been on my dash for almost two years and I also have an Angrybird Hotwheels car that has been on my dash for over a year, both are stuck on with the 3M automotive tape.

Thank you for the Glue Dots link, that really looks like something that would do the trick. I think I have a use for them in other applications already.
