Drove a friends Challenger RT

A friend of mine recently bought a '10 Challenger RT. It has the 5.7 HEMI and a 6 speed. Initial impressions are wow its sexy from the outside and the back seat and trunk are huge, but the interior looks like a rental car. Plain flat plastic everywhere and odd button placement. Even the base Camaros still have a much more impressive interior. She agreed to let me drive it and I was disappointed. It felt like driving a waterbed! The shifter felt mushy, inaccurate, and it was hard to find the shift gates. The clutch pedal was very light but only engaged in the first 2-3 inches of travel, the rest of the pedal throw was useless. The gas was sensitive but the drive by wire lag was very disappointing after shifts. The steering was light but didn't feel very connected to the road.

Overall: The Challenger sucks! It looks amazing from the outside but sucks from the driver's seat. I don't know maybe I'm just biased towards my camaro... but aren't we all?

No. You're right. I drove a new one on a dealer lot. It's just a 2 door Chrysler 300.

I haven't seen one personally, only through pictures. Going off by the pictures I've seen, I always thought the Challenger had a really nice interior, but I've heard many people say that the Challengers interior is cheap. So I'll take their word for it. I wonder if the SRT8 is any different?

I found the interior of my 12 SRT8 had a better functional layout, and was much more comfortable to drive than my SS. I find my 5.0 interior about on par with my SS. In regards to shifter and clutch in the RT I have no idea I had an automatic. I do think the clutch and shifter were better in my SS than my 5.0 though.

In regards to the Challenger's interior being cheap, have you taken a look at your SS's interior lately? Other than seats the SS is pretty poor as well.

I think the Challenger looks like a brick, way too boxy looking.

I think the interior is rated like this to me, and I'll try to include the mustang but didn't shop them too much.

Lower mustang
Lower camaro
Lower challenger
Mustang
Camaro 2ss/2lt
Camaro zl1
Challenger srt8 392 (didn't look at older srt8 so don't know interior)

I put the srt8 higher an the zl1 because of the seats, otherwise they have about the same amount of suede trim pieces. Oh and the radio in the challenger is better too.

As far as handling yeah the challenger to me is a boulevard cruiser and that is not a bad thing, just not my style.

WTF

As far as the OT, I agree the challenger interior is cheap and lacking, but I would also argue that the Mustang and Camaro interiors are also lacking unless you get them loaded.

My loaded Camaro is nice, but for what I paid it could be a lot nicer.

I can't speak for the SRT but the RT seemed to have a lot of flat plain plastic. The Camaro at least has some lines and curves and texture on the interior making it more appealing.

Tell ya 1 thing IMO the seats in the srt chally are so much more comfortable than the camaro or stang. We call them throneslove the bolstering.
