Tire air pressure, would like other opinions.

I know the tires are suppose to be at 32 psi cold but when I take the car out on a cold day the tires are usually around 29-30 psi. After driving a very short distance, 6-10 blocks they immediately climb to 32 psi, eventually as high as 33-34 psi as they warm up.

My question is if I inflate the tires to 32 psi at their coldest point after sitting for several days, once I start driving are they actually over inflated.

For example yesterday and today the temperature stayed in the 50's overnight and when I started the car this morning the tires were showing 32 psi cold, if I added air last week they would had been at 34-35 psi. I was just curious what other people thoughts about this was.

Not really a big deal for me as I run 34 cold. "Who stated they were overinflated"? Tire pressures will vary, did you watch the video regarding the ZL1 and tire pressures during track useage? Are you feeling a difference while driving with more tire pressure?

32 cold would be ideal for me for street use. On a road course 38-40 max for steet tires.

The SS 20" wheels (P Zero tires) are recommended to run 36 PSI when cold.

The ZL1 and 1LE tires (Goodyears) are recommended at 32 PSI when cold.

Better gas mileage and they will last longer over inflated

Adding to this thread........

I will get a "thump" "thump" roll noise in tire when i drive, after sitting for at least 2 weeks......

Is this normal? Any remedy? Car is now in winter mode until March.....

..eventually the noise goes within a mile or so.....

I run 34lbs PSI cold. Cold being 50° outside, with the cement driveway at 41° (checked it with my laser thermometer)..

@ 34lbs PSI the tires will get to 38lbs PSI at highway speeds.. @ 38 lbs PSI I am getting what I consider to be the best performance from the tires, both in terms of grip and MPG.

Yes...P Zeros tend to get a flat spot when sitting for a while and cold. It does go away after driving a bit and the tire warms up some. Not sure of a remedy, I chose not to store it.

The scuffing noise happens when you have low tire pressure? The only reason I ask is its been driving me crazy not knowing what that was when I backed out of the driveway.. Figured it was the tires but not because of low pressure...

Have you thought about filling your tires with nitrogen? When the weather decides it is going to stay above 40, I am going to put on my summer tires and put the winter tires away. I hope the dealership has nitrogen to do this.
