Judge for yourself, but it does NOT actually come right out and say litterally that the first 12 months is free, although that's how most people would probably interpret the wording.

Well that document seems to spell it out pretty clearly as far as I'm concerned, but it might also account for some of the confusion.

Some models (2LT, 2SS and ZL1) are listed as getting 12 months, and the others get 3 months.

I think it accounts for the confusion as well.. It could be a dealer thing or a sirius thing at that point. After 45min with the chucklehead I spoke too, they agreed to fix it. I was given the number 866-463-5326 for sirius to resolve this issue if anyone else needs to make the call. I have a confirmation number so I guess we will see if it got fixed or not in two weeks.

Sirius Response to my complaint that my Moroney Sticker says I get (extended to) 12 months:

Thank you for taking the time to speak to me today. As we discussed I have set up the service on your Camaro so that the trial will start today and run through until January 10/2014 for the XM Premier audio portion. You will also have a three month trial on the XM Travel Link and the XM NavTraffic that will run through until April 10/2013. You may need to have a signal resent to your radio again if the service is not active when you are ready to use the radio. You may contact me directly or any agent in my department and we will be glad to assist you in activating the service. You may also activate the service yourself. You will not be able to receive the signal unless your radio is currently on channel 01. When you are in your vehicle and ready to activate, you can easily do this yourself by going online to www.siriusxm.com/refresh or by calling our activation hotline at 855-MY-REFRESH and entering your Radio ID/ESN. You may contact me directly.Thank you.

Yes I was told I have to call every three months to reactivate each time.

It is obvious that XM is trying to hope owners will just pay and not pay attention to how long the trial was. And I bet 50% of the owners just pay it.

They were going to turn mine off after 3 months. I called them up (Sirius, not the dealer)and they extended the trial to 12 months. It took 5 minutes. If I have to remind them again, I'm going to tell them to turn it off.

Wow. This doesn't seem what they discussed with me, however, hopefully everything works out for you.

And XM is still full of bull. I kept receiving snail mails and emails stating that I could add internet radio for free during my trial period. I do like that feature so I called and set it up. The rep confirmed that yes, internet radio would be free during the duration of my free trial period. At the end of the period I would need to pay extra for the service, which I understood.
The rep wanted a credit card number and I told them I would prefer to be billed when the trial ended. He said no problem.
They gave me a login and it worked fine.
A few days later I received a bill for $9.45. There was no explanation of the charges.
So I returned the statement with a note explaining that I did not owe anything and was in my free trial period.
A couple of days later I lost internet radio.
I contacted the billing department for XM and they said my balance was zero.
So I contacted another rep and told them about the situation.
He explained that I did not pay my bill and that was why I lost the service.
I tried over and over to explain to him that I was told numerous times that the internet radio was free during the trial period.
NOPE.
He finally said "I can give you one month free but that is it".
I could see that their customer service is as worthless as ever so I agreed to take the free month.
He gave me a link.
So yes, you guessed it, you are required to provide a credit card number to get the free month. And once they have that, they think they have carte blanche to bill you whenever they feel like it.
So XM....YOU SUCK! Very deceptive advertising at the minimum.
Why are they cutting off our 12 month trial every 3 months?

Because they are 1 of 2 things.

1. Completely inept at the concept of billing.
2. Out and out crooks who hope people will start paying after 3 months when they are supposed to get 12.
I am going with option 2.
Maybe I am wrong. But I have worked in customer service for over 20 years and would have been fired long ago for handling accounts in the manner that they seem to think is acceptable.

I only got 3 months free when I purchased my car, then paid for another 3 months during the summer. I let it expire in November because the car is currently in storage for the winter. I must have looked over the 12 month trial when I bought it.

It sure seems like someone with GM would step in and stop this nonsense. Brandon worked great with me to get my trial back after it stopped and I certainly appreciate his efforts. But I am going to have to go through it again in March.
GM....demand that XM get this right! I am a loyal GM customer and I hate to see something like this leave a bad taste in my mouth.
If you go to the trouble of putting 12 months of free service on my window sticker, make XM live up to that commitment without someone having to contact them every 3 months.
I do love the XM service. Mostly for the talk shows available that you cant find anywhere else. At the end of my trial I will gladly pay for the service.
But if we were promised 12 months for free, then that is what we should get without a bunch of hassle..

problem is that it is not an XM issue.

it is a dealer issue.

your salesman from your dealer has to set up the XM trial in his computer via their dealer login site to XM and OnStar.

so it is your dealer/salesman who farked it up during the setup and all XM has to go on is what that salesman filled out in the dealer setup site.

Dealer checked the 3 month box instead of the 1 year box because they can't read the invoice/windows sticker..

So why did they (XM) only give me 3 more months once the problem was identified and addressed? Shouldnt they have given me 9 more months?

well my first response is because the XM rep is an idiot.

however I beleive it is because XM can't fix it, the dealer has to do it via their setup site.

I had the issue as well on both my Avalanche and my Camaro, I never called XM, I went to my dealer and the salesmanager corrected it, he never called XM, he sat at his computer, logged into some site, put in my VIN, 5 minutes later we walked out to the car and it was back on.

In the case of my Avalanche it remained on for 15 months, so whatever he did, he added 1 year to the already used 3 months.

In the case of my Camaro, I won't know if the same thinng was done until December 2013..

my guess here would be that they have a 3 month, 6 month or 1 year option in the setup, and not a 9 month option..

I never went through the dealer, I went straight to XM and they fixed the problem. If anyone is still having problems contact Brandon from GM customer service or XM customer service who both have accounts here. Both have been very helpful and are very aware of the situation.

Mine also ended after 3 months. After much wait time and explaining and proof I bought the car etc.. they reactivated. However they said I would have to also call back in 3 mo to reactive. Maybe we all should keep calling the BBB - this is crazy

Not only did mine expire after 3 months, I purchased another subscription for both the xm radio, but also Nav Traffic (which is what I was told I needed for my radio), after 1 hour yesterday with xm trying to get it to work, we only got the radio service working and I transferred the Nav Traf to my Avalanche. XM said it was a onstar function, knowing it wasn't, I chatted with GM Infotainment help line about this last night too, no issues with my radio and was told to try xm again. I called them today as was told I needed the travel link form xm to make my radio work, well the weather part works but not the others....so back to GM infotainment hotline I went, I talked with them for quite a while and they are calling xm to get this fixed and working. Man this is frustrating to say the least. I don't care if I have to pay, I just want all my features back!

BTW here is the window sticker from the ZL1.

GM Infotainment and XM is working my issue, they say that I do have the correct package "Travel Link" for the standard MyLink radio, gives you the funtion of the Weather, Movie Listings and Fuel.

They are not sure why it is not working and asked that I take it to the dealer for a hard reset of the radio.

They can have the signal refreshed and see if it works correctly then, if not, they have a direct line, Dealer to XM to troubleshoot more.

I did ask about the 12 month service, this service is set up by the dealer, if it expires after 3 months then the dealer did not sleect the 12 month option...all corporate XM accounts are only 3 months, all other are deals or extentions are dealer only.

Hope to get this going again.....
