You know I don't care if it's on the left or the right. Because either way I am going to put the darn thing on the top anyway!!!

You can't imagine how fast the price snowballs. And the low roof, huge wheels and tiny lights look fantastic in pictures and on the stand but look ridiculous on the street and would render the car unusable. Well, I'm not mad about everything. I could care less about a 14mm difference in roof height. The wheels? I could always go larger from aftermarket if I wished. The side vents? I could always cut them out.

See...all this won't make me not buy the car. But, if you go changing too many things, it just won't be the same. We start off with one thing. Then, it goes to two, three, four (and now we're like....ok), and five (asking what else is going to change), six (is this thing going to be the same car?), seven (this is getting to be too many changes),

I completely understand about having to keep the cost down. And, I wouldn't want to be the only one to keep thousands of poeple from getting their Camaro. I'd rather go and buy the $400 billet cap like you mentioned. I probably won't be able to for a while, but I really think it adds something to the overall look of the Camaro. While it's not going to keep me from buying the car, it sure is a dissappointment seeing a couple things in particular change that I was so passionate about (the gas cap for one...b-pillar for another). Overall, they are doing a great job and I'm sure I'll be very pleased.

Add some B-pillars. Make the roof higher. Make the wheels smaller. Don't cut out the vents. Change the gas cap location....and go ahead and paint the cover.....Hell...just change a few more things about the car. Now, I can understand reasons for certain changes.

I can live with a few things. But, give me a break. I'm not one who goes to a dealer and buys whatever is on the lot... So, for a lot of us, it ISN'T JUST a gas cap.

As for me, and reading this site, here is my take.

THIS IS A BIG DEAL FOR MOST PEOPLE (not all) WHO LOVE THE CAMARO!!!

This is one of the distinguishing marks of this 5th gen to a lot of us.

All the changes you have made that we have been able to see have been great and we have all enjoyed seeing the progress with open minds and hearts. We all over every pic that becomes available. And we are all very excited about the stuff that will blow us away, and believe me, I hope it does!!! There is a lot of nit picky things from everyone, yes, and most of those things can be changed after market if needed. So you are able to build a solid beautiful car for us for a good price to market to most and still allow others to personalize! But this is ONE area that if it is put on the side will not be able to be personalized because it IS NOT ON TOP!

So do I care which side it's on? Personally no....Does the gas cap on top have to be a $400 dollar billet gas cap..no, put that cost as an option or aftermarket possibility. Does the gas cap on THE TOP give me that option without costin' GM or the consumer $$$...To me yes.

Will I still buy the Camaro with it on the side??....ABSOLUTELY!!! It is just that beautiful....and I still thank you in advance for blowing our minds!

This is one thing I am definitely 'Keeping the Faith' until proven otherwise...

Putting the gas cap on the top allows it to be filled from either side. Now that is convenient. I'll accept I traditional door as stock equipment, because I can go buy a billet one myself. But the location is unchangeable, so I hope it stays where it is on the concept, as that location is both attractive and convenient.

Regarding my statement earlier. I don't want anyone to think I'm unhappy w/ the way things are going. I am happy. There are certain things that make this Camaro unique to me....certain things I saw at NAIAS back in 06 that, in a sense, screamed out at me. Those two things that were MAJOR in my eyes were:

1. No b-pillar and

2. Gas cap style and location.

I can live with other things changing. I knew the interior was going to change. I figured there would be no way GM would keep wheels that big. Roof being raised? Fine by me...I'm 6'3" anyway and would appreciate it. I can cut out the vents on the side if I wish. I'm cool w/ everything. There's just a couple things that are special to me....things that are really important to me that I'm adamant about seeing in our production Camaro.

I lost on #1. I'll live with it. I can understand. BUT, I don't think crash test safety, standards, and savings on insurance play a role w/ freakin gas cap location. Cost cutting? If that's the only reason, well....fine. I'll live. But, someone better make that gas cap for me. And, they better keep the gas cap door up top. Just my personal view. Only an opinion. I'm not mad at anyone. I just don't want to see another like of mine dissappear.

Just thinking...Maybe the smaller light pods in the grille could be the turn signal indicators if the lights in the bumper are fog lights. That being said they are just temporary??? The round gas cap cover would be good. I wasn't too happy about the B pillar either but I would rather have the roof support than not.

Thought popped in my head as to the existance of those amber lights in the Grille that Fbodybuddy spoke about.

We know the prototype's headlights are stand-ins as the production lamps aren't ready yet, right?

Well...assuming we get something similar to the concepts, then notice how the 'front' turn signals are sort of intigrated into the headlight on the concepts, and Bumblebee #3. Perhaps those ambers on the prototype are also just stand-in's - because the production lamps (headlight, and directional) just aren't ready yet?
I always felt they were...they look so, out of place. But I couldn't come up with reasoning to back it up until now.

As per TAG. Have you noticed how nobody has said anything directly negative about the filler cap location, yet? No "don't get too hooked on it." Or "Just be prepared for changes on that front". Nothing.
Although I can see a BIG possibility of it being sent down to the side (due to stupid people claiming warantee repaints due to gas spills), nobody has 'braced us' for the impact, yet......hmmmmm......

The gas spill thing drives me crazy. When I filled up today, I took one second to tilt it forward and hold it in, then I pulled it out and not a single drop was spilled. Anyone going in for warranty repaints for spilled gas should have their car taken away from them and given to someone more deserving.

Quit plagiarizing my thoughts…

I feel the same way. I really really really wanted the gas cap to be identical to the concept’s (still crossing fingers and holding on to what hope is left) but as of now, there is not a change on the car that will keep me from buying one. For example, every blurry “cough cough” spy photo (yeah right) I see makes me smile till my face hurts… I have never had a new car make me feel like that…

This is the only post regarding the gas cap from anyone we know for FACT is a GM employee and could know this info. And...it doesn't tell us much. It's Scott playing that wink game with us, but it was in regards to a message that I believe has been edited on the Camaro facts page. So, no way to tell which direction it points us in. Help us out Scott.....please. Any info is better than the info I'd rather not hear.

Oh now that is just sad! Camero I think you now know how passionate and excited people were and still are about the look of the concept. We really really really really liked it. Everything about it makes us work overtime and sale whatever other car we have to to get one. Heck i have my first born on ebay right now!!!! J/K

Cars look something like this, and the item in red is the B pillar. It seperates the front windows from the rear in all sedans and most new coupes. The A pillar is at the front, and the C pillar is the one at the back the car Wagons and SUV's tend to have an additional D pillar at the rear.

+1!!!

I notice that most fuel filler doors are on the driver's side so it makes it easier to find shorter lines at Costco (since their gas stations are one-way driveways) because not everyone can and/or will stretch the fuel pump hose over/behind/underneithe their cars. Simply put, the lines are just shorter because not as many people drive to those pumps, so a filler door on the passenger's side is just fine by me

As far as I'm concerned, a few small changes are fine with me (for the most part) as long as the overall content is high.

You know I meant no harm/disrespect to you or any others here! I've met Scott and know when he says something, it goes. Then, we get others that claim to be "The General" and go off on us for posting spy shots. I'm not saying I don't believe you. I'm just saying there's no proof to what you say is true (at least, yet)....again, I MEAN NO disprespect.

But, I hear what you say about the vents and gas cap. So, you say the gas cap will be on the passenger/side?

EDIT: Again, I don't mean to come off sounding that way. I hope you can understand.

The Warrenty will never pay for something like that. That is considered abuse...

I think it is more of a Safety matter, if the car is in a rollover accident it may be more prone to having the cap torn off and maybe a spillage... and as Al Gore would think "An Environmental Disaster"

The Camaro is unique enough and looks good without putting JC Whitney Gimmic doodads on it like the chrome gas cap.

So speaking of prototypes in LA, during a recent trip back to the family's home my dad said he was driving around through LA and saw some camo'd car driving around. Even after showing him pics of every car I know of going around in pre-pro camo, he doesn't know what it was. He is now under strict orders to photograph anything like that he sees while driving around.
