Sounding Off!!!

Hey Guys first post on here!!! I just wanted to note or voice a concern of mine and it's as follows.

Exhaust System and sound from the exhaust!!!

Now I don't know about you all but I have heard a few mustangs in my city that just sound down right mean. They have the awesome rumble not sloppy or nasty, just a really nice deep tone and mean sounding when you mach the gas!!!!

Now I am not a Ford guy nor am I exclusively a Chevy either but rather an American Muscle Car Guy!!!

I grew up riding around in my uncles 1969 Z/28 CAMARO and I also have my own 66 Mustang.(69 Camaros are just way to expensive tight now) That's the only reason why I do not have one right now.

But anyway I am just concerned cause when I buy my new Camaro I want people to not only envy my new Maro's looks but to also tremble as I rumble by!!!!!

Need less to say I am excited about this car. I love the out side look and the interior needs a little work but I am already working on ideas to make my Camaro Unique to me and my style! With that being said I would love to see some pics of motor in those mules even though they are only mules. But that to me my friends would be a true spy shot!!!

So enough from me, let me know what you guys think so far. Let's Sound Off!!!

yea those mustangs u hear rumbling most likly have the "X" pipe exhaust, which imo makes it sound like a monster.

but i think i speak for everyone when we all want to see the mules motor lol

The Camaro team is actually tuning the exaust note on the car. No need to worry - they know what we want on that front.

No, avoid the "X" pipe at all costs. The "H" pipe is where the badass exhaust note comes from. The X pipe is about 5% more efficient usually, but it kills the sound. The H pipe will make it sound like a beast.

The reason why Mustangs usually sound so good is a TRUE dual exhaust system, which utilizes two mufflers. The Camaro's and Firebirds from the past twenty (or so) years have used a single muffler setup, which seriously limited the aggressive sound. I just recently asked about the exhaust of the new Camaro, and the general consensus is that GM realizes what we want, and apparently early blueprints of the car show that it was designed using a TRUE dual exhaust system, which is great news. Also, there is a short video clip of the new Camaro being driven up a loading ramp into a trailer. The car sounds very nice, which a deep, aggressive exhaust tone. I'm sure you could find it on YouTube.

I'm eager to see what engine options we'll have. I'm planning on an aftermarket exhaust anyways, so I'm not too concerned regarding OEM sound. There are systems out there (SLP comes to mind) that oftentimes use straight-through resonators, instead of actual mufflers, which tend to give a sound that you are describing. I like the OEM sound of the current Mustangs but would prefer MY car to be a little louder. I don't like resonance inside the car but a rumble outside is cool. Assuming we get and LSA or LS8, I'd hope to end up with dual 3.0-inch pipes so I could just replace the mufflers, much like the current Mustangs. Anyhoo... if I want loud, I can go for a drive in my '02 with long tubes and a cutout

The only shots I've seen of the engine have been the oil pan, from underneithe the car. You can see the exhaust come off the manifolds, to the cats', and continue a dual exhaust path under the rear suspension, so my hopes are high.

Well ok maybe not my first post but rather my first thread. ;o)

I sure do hope that the exaust is nice right out of the box. Wasn't there a blue print or something like that on here that showed us a glimps of what the exaust could look like?

I think you may be thinking about the images I was referring to. They were mostly focused on the front and rear suspension, but they gave an idea of the exhaust layout. Unfortunately, it did little (for me,) to offer an idea on what engine was in there.

I guess time will tell.

These are a few pics of the prototype chasis that were released before the silver coupes debut in detroit 2 year's ago. Not sure if this is the real zeta chasis or the coupled together sigma chasis used for the concept cars.

I would venture to say no. In my opion. Dual exaust is completly independent from each other. I dont really know what that is that concets the two but I would ger rid of it and put some Flow Master on it... ohhhhh yyyyyyeeeaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!

The catalytic converter is what connects the two tubes. True duals would have two cats and two mufflers and the tubes would never join.

I have heard plenty of 2006 GTO's that sound sick. (meaning they sound awesome).

You probably do not have anything to worry about regarding Camaro exhaust.

Converting this to a true dual exhaust would be easy. Simply remove the catalytic converters and replace them with welded straight pipe. I live in Florida, and there's no emissions testing done here, nor state inspections. However, many states will check to make sure the cat's are installed on a car, especially when it has a loud exhaust.

My plans are to remove the cat's and replace the mufflers with Flowmasters.

Yeah according to these renderings it would be an easy fix. But in Florida there are emissions test it just all depends on where in Fl. you live. Dade and Broward county both have them unless you have a classic automobile.

I have a causin who is a State Trooper in Port St. Lucie.
