Does anyone go without the cover? What are the repercussions from doing so?

Part #22931371

This is the '13 part number which should give you the revised cover.

Check out shopchevyparts.com. They typically have the best prices on things like this.

I don't.

Many will argue, but I believe the cover helps reduce wear on the top.

Without the cover, the folded top flaps up and down at normal driving speeds from air going in and around the side rails. I've seen no other convertible top do this flapping except the 5th gen Camaro. In my opinion, Chevy should include the tonneau cover on ALL trims -- not just the 2LT and 2SS.

Imho this has to be causing *some* wear - how much, I don't want to find out. So I use the tonneau unless its a short trip around town.

I'm glad I found this forum. I just traded in my BMW Z4 for an '11 Camaro SS. The Z4 didn't have a cover. I just took the top down and never worried about anything. Now, when I leave my office, I have to go stand out in the parking lot trying to put on this stupid cover. Then, it almost blows off. (I drive 80+mph , 75 miles a day round trip). When I don't use the cover which is often, I see the top blowing all around. I don't like that I spent thousands of dollars and I most likely need to do a work around on my cover, or be replacing the top.

can you do this with an 2011 cover with the clips? I have the clips and i have added Velcro across the front and back it works well but I still worry about it flying off

You would have to put something there for the "bungee's" to wrap around, but you could do it.

I just asked about this problem on the other site & one member had a different ideal. First on my 2012 45th Anniversary 2LT Convertible, the cover came with it and those bungee cord I stretch them out to the HOOKS on the top ( they are the ones that lock it down when you are of course putting the top back on) and they have worked since it did fly off once when I used the rings on the back seats area. I'm going to try the Velcro right in the middle of the cover where it tucks in behind the seat area.
We have a video on the other site. Michael

Well I have been thinking about doing this for a while and I thought I would throw this out there. I have the clips and have never had a problem with them coming loose (knock on wood) I have also added Velcro at the front and back, it works well but need to have Velcro sewn in (glue got hot and slid around big mess) so here is my thought. I want to take out the bolts and replace them with longer ones using 2 spacers one for the clips and the other for the bungee as described above. I looked at the space with the top folded down and there is plenty of space where the bolts are. I know it is kind of belts and suspenders but I don't want this to fly off and cause an accident.

I know GM does not care about this problem otherwise they would have done something to correct this problem for those of us with the defective parts.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
