Since when is a 300+ hp muscle car considered settling?
Man this statement is starting to bug me. I told the guys i work with im highly considering the v6 camaro as i think its an amazing motor with 305hp. They say something like dude thats a chick car your settling get a real camaro and a v8
From my perspective people gota understand i grew up in the 80's when the 5.0 litre mustang was king with 225 or so hp. I mean where else can u get this much car with 305 hp and 29 mpg thats amazing imo. My drag racing days are long over and no way in hell im racing some ricer clown just to see who's the bigger man on the streets and take out some soccer mom in her mini van with her 3 kids. Load up a 2LT RS thats one hell of car for a daily driver.Correct me if im wrong but wasnt a lot of the muscle cars of the 60's early 70's under or close to 300 hp? My 99 grand am v6 is around 180ish hp and has tons of pick up to get around town and to pass on the highway. Anyone else getting these kind of statements from your v6 camaro as i sure am?

![]() I remind them my co-workers and friends, 304HP is almost double of what my current vehicle has and that's damn quick. I also tell them that I wanted my Camaro with a bit of the horns and whistles hence the RS package and the "2" in front of my LT. Basically I'm smiling at the end of any discussion from the guys at work, I'm more than thrilled that I'm getting the V6, it looks great... is fast and I have money left over to actually take the ladies out.

Unfortunately it's the nature of the game. It will never change. I do have the SS, but I know how kick ass the V6 motor is. I have great respect for that engine. You might want to remind them that your car more than likely will eat theirs for lunch. Not to mention they ain't got a car that even comes close to the HOTTNESS of the Camaro.

its not the 300hp that they are thinking about, its the v6. there are a lot of people out there stuck in the mentality of "if it aint a v8, it aint a muscle car" same as those who think that "if it aint a stick, it aint a muscle car"
the v6 in this Camaro is one bad little motor.

You couldn't be more right. There's no shortage of badassery in either Camaro. It's obvious that the V8 packs more punch, but who can complain about a V6 that easily beats its counterparts. Imports from the Far East pride themselves on their V6s. It is no surprise that a 400-hp will annihilate most of those flagship V6s, but it is very good to see that the 304-hp V6 will bring some serious muscle to the shores of Japan and Korea. While it might not beat everything in the market, it won't take much for it to catch up to the best they have to offer. The V6 will make your jaw drop. The V8 will make you replace your pants.

My neigbor was giving me the business too! You are buying a Camaro with a V6? What is wrong with you?
I simply told him 304 HP is plenty and oh, BTW I told him- If I bought a 2009 Mustang GT v8 (with only 300HP) would we be having this conversation? I also already have a 415HP Vette that does 186 MPH if you can find a road to actually use it on? Bottom line is GM built a helluva a V6 so DO not penalize them for over 300HP in a V6! Also, the article in MotorTend brags about how the V6 Camaro may be the real sleeper and best value of 2010... I ordered 2LT with RS and am not regretting it, we buy for us not others! BTW my neighbor is driving a mazda 6 with a 4 cylinder... J |

The problem is, most people hear Camaro and they think V8. Reality is you buy what works for you but, the V6 is a settle simply because there is something better available.
When ever you buy any car an you choose the lower model it can be perceived as a "Settle", but it does not make it a bad choice for you. Get what works for you, who cares what others think.

I would never buy a v6 camaro. I pay for the sound first, and I love the 8's tune.
That said, that 6 in the 2010 camaro is a beast. And the best part is when you start killing some 8's in the 6. Defiantly has the potential |

![]() I'm with you on everything you just said my friend... Tell em buzz off, they are just honestly jealous. You are buying a piece of american history best suited to your lifestyle and economic standards. I am having the same thing going around. 'OH, it's not a Super Sport(SS), it's not a real Camaro...' or 'Your not getting the top of the line!?!?'... All I wanna say is 'mother fudger, I AM GETTING ONE, are you?!?! No, right?!?! Or I just wanna scream 'Your 3 series will never compare, in anyway!'... I am getting the most upgraded model of the v6 2LT/RS/AUTO the most expensive of that genre. That's what I feel is most reasonable for the price and the best economical decesion...

Who cares what everyone else thinks? There IS NO "LITTLE" Camaro! Just HOT and HOTTER! ANY 2010 Camaro is a hell of a car. Let the fanboys rant all they want. They can go put their little wings and cheezy stickers on and make themselves feel all cool.
You don't have to get what they want and be just another drone. YOU don't have to get along. It's your money. Buy what you want. Let 'em hate on you. That's OK. Just don't hate on 'em back. You'll get ostracized for Truth. You've got a state of the art musclecar...they don't. That's the core of it. |

Ditto, but realistically, do you have the funds to support the V8 habit? I would personally like to go on roadtrips w/ the V6, and the still have enough for hotels along the way..
Had a Pontiac Firebird w/ a 6.6L 403ci and only 255hp?! So it's a def step up. Besides, I plan on squeezing more hp(325-350) when the time is right. |

The v6 camaro looks nicer in some ways to me. Don't listen to those folks. With that said, the v6 is girly car while the v8 is a real mans car
. Kidding. But even if I said it, who cares, it's all about what you want. By the way, if u aren't driving a stick and don't have a mullet, then you look like a sissy while driving any ss camaro too. See how silly that sounds. LOL

Its all history guys. All v6/straight 6 Camaros/Chevelles/Novas/Montes were slow dogs back in the day. Even the 4th gen v6's were fairly slow with 200hp (not to bad though). Besides the v8 is HIGHLY upgradeable, making is a sick street car.
But until people see for them selves that the 3.6 has a mean punch, things wont change. At first I realised I had to settle for the v6 due to finances, but now I can't wait to get the LT! I prefer the LT over the SS now due to its daily driver-ability with a kick! All hail the might V6

The v6 is settling when the v8 is offered. No way around it. And it really doesn't matter how much HP it has, the v6 has a hard time matching my old '87 5.0 notchback that I ran 14.2's @ 98 bonestock.

Your 5.0 was highend back then too. I'm sure the Camaro would have better times, minus 400 lbs... lol
