Wow, another v6 vs V8 thread! Well I have owned a 75 Camaro with a monster V8 and Muncie 4 speed and all that. All Camaros were great ( even the iron duke 4cylinder equipped third gens had their panache, albeit sad)
I love my 2LT as it's the best daily driver one could want with all the style, quality and performance. I have a manual 6 speed to enjoy all those gears with an awesome 312 HP it is indeed nothing to shirk at! It's a muscle car in every way, but it's like comparing a small block of the old days against a big block of thoses early muscle cars days of the 60's and seventies. Do remember that if you got a small block back then and not the big block, you were "settling" then as well so let's all PIPE down on the ragging on the V6 equipped most V8 camaros of the past were waaaay under 300 HP! Some V8's were in the 150 HP club WITH V8's! The reality is that it's all about torque. That's what turns the wheels round and that is what you feel at the seat of your pants. The V6 fifth gen Camaro has lots of torque but the V8 has Simply gobs of it, so like another poster just said it's like the V6 makes your jaw drop, the V8 makes you wet your pants....now what do you want to drive daily? eB

drove around in my sons Synergy Green V6, and it has very decent power, I like it. The only drawback is lack of mods and tuning capablility, but in spite of that, it is a mighty fine car.... and has great power, todays V6 has more power they yesteryears V8...now somebody, make a maggie for this engine!

I am one of those that had a bad crank bearing and the engine failed at 10,000 mms (6400 miles) GM first elected to only fix the engine, now they got the car back and I am driving a loaner while we negotiate a trade in for an SS.
If anyone has any information about this as a known issue please PM me As it may help my case with GM. I have now heard of this three times, is this known to others? eB Quote:

The 82 Camaro Berlinetta v6 I had in high school and college (owned it 87 to 96 or so) only had a 114 hp. THAT was settling and I regularly kicked myself for not waiting for a (rare in that model/year) v8 (wouldn't/couldn't get a Z28). I don't think I settled at all with my LT. Even sold a 96 LT4 Corvette to buy it.

No settling here, just layed a nice burn out on my driveway, just as good as any of my other Camaros.
For a daily driver...ha, I'll take it all day long. |

There's a seat for every hiney. Some are meant to runs 6's and some 8's. That's what makes the world go around.
