At the dealer now for CEL. Cylinder misfire.

Check engine light went on yesterday. Seemed to be running ok. lady just told me it's a misfire in cylinder 8...it's a v6. This should be interesting.

Maybe they'll see that there's no way to fix the "problem" and you'll get a brand new v8

I think they're not running on all cylinders either.

And pick up a cheap reader so you now the code before you get there. I don't trust dealers to tell you the right code either.

Mine did this in the cold when starting. There is a service bulletin re-flash for this. Have them look it up.

Im guessing that on Saterday the service dept is not open for anything that requires more diagnostic other than something obvious. Oil changes, basic maintenance and car clean up for new sales is probably their Saterday stuff. I guess Im just lucky, I have a dealership with a great service dept. I trust taking any of my vechicles to them over the other shops in the area. Take the rental, enjoy your weekend, and Monday will be here before you know it.

Mine did the same thing this morning. I don't have a code reader and had to get to work so I had OnStar pull a diagnostic. Misfire. Drove my jeep to work, and am dropping the car off tomorrow night for service first thing Monday morning. I'm hoping its just the re-flash issue mentioned above. I will say though, the car has 39,200 miles on it, and this is my first issue. I'm a happy customer.

Picked it up today.
"carbon deposits on intake and exhaust valves. remove carbon from valves using procedure as outlined in bulletin #PIP5029B. road tested vehicle. no misfires present at this time."

My question is how does a car with 23k get carbon deposits??

You should search about the use of catch cans. My v6 would burn oil do to crankcase pressure or blow by

I have read quite a bit about catch cans. Mostly for on this forum but differing opinions elsewhere.
My question is why should I have to mod my car to make up for a GM design flaw (if there even is one)?

I agree with you, but what I caught with my can, I didn't want that going back in to be burned up in my intake. I did it also on my v8 which doesn't seem to have as bad an issue. Tracy has some interesting pics on this, which you have probably seen.

Have you found out what the problem is. This past Sunday the 26th my service engine light came on and was running rough. Pulled it back in shed and parked it until I could get it into dealer today. They reset the light and it came back with errors p0300, p0301, p0303 and p0306, misfire. Cyl #3 had highest count at 140, #1 had 20, and #6 had 16 counts. So, they cleared codes and rechecked. Could not recreate the misfire. So, coming home I watched my temp gauges, analog and digital. The analog was running at about 150 degrees, outside temp 63 and it has never showed this low temp. Digital gauge was running from 196-225 degrees, really sporatic. When it reached 223 I called the service dept and informed them of this and asked if I should come back. The analog gauge has always shown between 196-210 regardless of outside temp and today its reading 150? Digital always reads 196 regardless of outside temps.

Tell them to re-flash it per SB PI 0284.
Add dry gas (it helps) in winter.
