Koeningsegg loses "World's fastest production car" title to Shelby.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22826327/?GT1=10755

I'm not gonna quote the article, but basically Shelby's Ultimate aero now holds the world speed record for production cars with the limited amount of road it was given.

though i didn't post that particular article . . . the topic exists.

Merger?

http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread...&highlight=ssc

Here's some more info about it:
Quote:
The powertrain that SSC has chosen for the Ultimate Aero is in direct contrast to the ultra-complicated setup used in the Veyron, with its four turbochargers and special 7-speed twin-clutch DSG gearbox. Mounted midship is the LS6 engine found in the previous generation Chevrolet Corvette Z06, but with a larger displacement that’s been bumped to 6.3 litres. With pushrods and two valves per cylinder, the engine doesn’t boast any new-fangled technologies, but it’s tried, tested and true, and what’s more it’s capable of providing the power reliably. The engine also receives two high-pressure turbochargers to deliver its astronomical output of 1,183 horsepower and 1,094 lb-ft of torque. The Veyron makes “only” 1,001 horsepower and 922 lb-ft of torque.

It just ran out of road. "If there was additional straight pavement on which to accelerate, the top speed would have been considerably higher, so if anyone challenges our record there is tons left on the table," says Chuck Bigelow, the brave soul who piloted the Ultimate Aero on its record-breaking run.

Aw shit. Last thing we Swedes had to be proud with in cars. Oh well at least the Koenigsegg still costs way less then many others in it's class.

Thats true, the Ultimate Aero and the CCX both cost roughly half as much as other top cars
